I have been wanting to build a truck for a long time now, so here goes... as i know nothing about them, so Google will get a work out when it comes to detailing, and the rest will be made up.. This is my starting point, and mother earth will be the lowering point.. Here goes nothing.....

I am way past keen to see where this goes. Should be plenty of room under the bonnet for what you have in mind plus it comes with the 'custom' tilting front clip!

Now that's a cool truck to do, do you have the papa truck too that carries this one ? I built both, aged about 12, took about a week to get em both finished !! katana_zpsefydonpk
Looking forward to this Dale, I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered icon_bored_zpscodtnzo5
Oh and isn't it a turbo motor as standard ??

No mate, don't have the Papa truck, but i would not have used it for it's purpose anyway, as for turbo-ed already.... not sure, haven't got into it yet, but 2 turbo's will always be better..

Don't fight it young Skywalker, let yourself come across to the dark side of the force!! rolling Unfortunately the dark side takes up too much room, and costs way too much money for me mate... I'll stick mostly to cars, i know what i'm doing with those..

WELL.... Tonight i just dived off that high board... straight into a truck build, which i have no clue about.. I have started with a basic mock up, to see what i need to do to get it low to start with.. I'm thinking maybe some air bags between that Axle and chassis.. thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon

Before you do any cutting check how the hood fits mate, it can be a pita later due to how it hinges. Also its just a bigger car really, lol

You could always dispense with the front springs and just go airbag for a show truck. Mount the bag on a low profile L shaped arm, arm to front and away you go, perhaps thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon. One of the local furniture removalists has a Scania with front and rear bags so he jack it up and down to help with the walk on loading.

Well, here it goes,........ BEFORE i do anything. BUT, i won't be using the rear section, but will make something from scratch i reckon. And then the saw came out, i had a spare chassis rail Deano sent me with a few other bits from this kit. I'M not sure how much lower it will be, but it leveled the chassis out quite a bit, as it did sit very high in the rear before. AND a spare set of wheels WILL come in handy too, just need to sort out another diff set-up.. EDIT: Found a second diff, just now need to design a rear suspension set-up, as this, being a drag/burnout truck, doesn't have any.

Moving this along very nicely mate. I have a couple of spring suspensions that may work for you or check out Auslowe's website. I like how this is looking. The lack of a rear end suspension is probably helping with ride height.

Coming along mate, going by that mock up pic you could almost make it a car transporter !
Like the way you z'ed the chassis, I'm like you I've only built one truck before, it's a whole new ball game lowering these things !

Thanks Deano, i might take you up on that offer mate. Martin, it's a big trial & error exercise i tell you !! I paused with the saw for a good half hour... not sure weather to cut it or not.. thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon

Thanks guys, the Z was the easy bit, i was stumped on the suspension though, and not being fluent in truck, i had no clue really, until our good building buddy DEANO offered me a rear end solution, and sent it down to me.. THANKS SO MUCH!! Now , that has opened up another can of worms for me, how far to stretch the chassis with the extra bits... thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon icon_whistle The black piece is the new air ride set-up, so maybe stretch it by about an axle.. so to speak. BEFORE. AFTER THOUGHTS.... thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon

It really depends on if your having a sleeper on it, without a sleeper that looks cool but with one you might need to go even longer. The amount of the frame showing in the last pic looks good

I quite the stretch, about right I'd say ! I'm Z `ing mine closer to the cab\sleeper,as i think it stands out a bit like that, maybe ? But then are you adding diesel tanks ? if you added them behind the cab then these would help cover the Z chassis part ?? You could probably get away with stretching it even more then ? Just my , looking good mate !
