I figured I'd start a thread to post all the new modeling related stuff that we get/ accrue / haul home. I know I always like showing my new purchases off but my family doesn't seem to appreciate them as much as you folks do. Anyways I figured I'd start things off by showing off the Christmas gifts that I just got for my son Joseph as he's a big WWII aircraft nut like his good ol' dad.
No worries....there'll be plenty of automotive related stuff coming from me as well.

I do too and I'm a big Bud Anderson fan (the pilot of "Old Crow"). He's among the greats.

As far as I know , unless it's happened in the last few days, he's still alive and kickin' at 94 years old. icon_hmm_zps07rcoppf I'll have to check into that.

I dunno about Airfix's or Hase's (Hasegawa usually does really good kits though) offering but I DO know that Tamiya makes one helluva Corsair kit in 1/48 scale. That's for dam sure.

Managed to pick one of these up last week and for a really good price. I almost forgot about it until I got it in the mail last night. These are getting more scarce by the day....

That's a good engine Joe. I managed to stash 18 different Gibson engines before he died and they quit making them, and you're right they are very pricey now if you can find one.

Thanks Dennis and you've got that right about the price. I got this one for an unbelievable $25. I'm seeing them go for $50 or more at places that still have them!!

I've got a set for aircraft weathering and it works great. Goes on like mascara make up. Just don't clear over it or the effect gets lost. sSig_DOH

The good stuff about aircraft exhaust staining as well as header bluing/ yellowing on exhausts is that you don't normally handle those parts of the model when it's finished.

My 1/48 scale Revell Corsair exhaust staining was completed using pastels ground up into a chalk and dry brushed onto the aircraft skin.
