OK gang, next project on my list. Been sitting on this one for a while now. Started the build about 5 yrs ago with the Ford C 900 wedge truck kit bash. (You can see the truck and finished cars in my gallery) Been gathering the parts for this project over the 5 yr course of the build. Finished the latest addition to this build earlier this yr. (69 Cobra Jet Mustang and trailer) Finished the 69 Fairlane CJ about 2 yrs ago. Paint for all of em is Guardsman Blue (Should be Acapulco blue actually) But, all the photographic reference I could find has the cars/truck in a much darker blue. Soo, I went with what looked right according to period photos. This has been a long haul project and this installment promises to be a long haul too. (Not gonna compromise on or rush this one) Going to be a fair amount of fabbing/scratch building and re-engineering of this kit to get it right though so, should be entertaining and informative. Hop on the crazy train with me and hang on!! Its gonna be an interesting ride!!!

Got a bit done today. I have to start by saying, I used the body from the recent Revell 69 Boss 302 kit for this since it does not have the quarter scoops like the CJ Mustang kit. This will make life easier down the road...OK! After cutting the radiator core support out (will also make life easier down the road) I cut the molded in battery out of the engine comp, since its in the trunk on this car. Fabbed up a filler panel for the fender apron and an extension for the core support. Really all I had time for today. I do have a pic of the 427 Cammer that's going in this beast for your viewing pleasure too. Funny how I have to make an FE Based (352/390/406/427/428) OHC 427 engine out of a 385 series (429 CJ/ boss 429/ 460) engine!!! But the JoHan block/heads and front cover are dimensionally accurate compared to other OHC 427s from other kits. Next installment...Body work, yeah... this one has the same issues as the original release did. And maybe some more work on the Cammer...

WOW!! Already starting with the surgery. I've got my eyes glued to the set. I do really like the Jo-Han 427 SOHC engine. I did find that the spark plug locations are off as compared to the real one but hey, like you said it's dimensionally correct and .....it's about the best SOHC representation out there that I've seen.

Thanks guys!! Should have some more progress pics tomorrow...Its gonna be a fun one to do. Agreed Joe! JoHan did a good job with the 429/427 engines in their kits. The only other one that even comes close is, the Mobius Comet AFX/Gasser kit and even that cammer is really too big overall.

OK! Todays installment; nothing spectacular really, Did some surgery on the front suspension. Removed all of it except the cont' arms because...Well...Its ugly, its also going to be in the way of the headers. Soo...Ill have to fab all that up too. Got some paint on the cammer components too . Next installment will deal with the interior tub. Cant do this one last, too much fab work on it ignore till the end. Thanks for looking!!!

Theres some plastic they use for making cosplay masks I've found useful for adding patterns to interiors mate. I cant remember what the brand was but you soak it in boiling water and can then shape it, however I found it works just as well for interior trim if you have a pattern you want to use. Simply lay it on a flat surface with greaseproof paper underneath, then I place lace on top followed by more greaseproof paper then just a kitchen rolling pin over the top and its done. The stuff handles auto paints without a problem and glues with ordinary super glue. I used it on the interior of this one (another paintjob that got ruined by simoniz primer) custom-model-society.boards.net/thread/649/1990s-lexus-ls400?page=3Its good stuff to have on hand and I'm sure it has many other modelling uses. I wouldn't use it on bodies though as it stays a little soft
