I'm building this one as part of a Group Build that I've got going on elsewhere. It gives me something to work on while concentrating my slow efforts on my Arado 234 turbine engine build up. I think the folks in this place are mature enough to handle a build like this without all the politics involved so I'll give 'er a go. I'll start with an MPC General Lee kit which I'll be using bits and pieces from to include decals and the parts necessary to make this a General Lee. I picked this kit up for $10 at the last show I went to in San Antonio back in February:
Most of the build will be from this kit which is a far better offering than the MPC version ever thought about being.
and to put a little bit of a spin on this car to get it to look the way I want it to look I'll be using the wider wheels from the AMT Eckler Corvette

Found the paint that I want to use. I've been eyeballing this color anyways because I've seen a few of the newer Chargers painted this color and I have developed a liking to it.
Here we are all cleaned up and primed. Still gotta do a teeny bit of sanding but it went on really smooth:

Because I live under a rock I have no idea what politics are involved in this but it looks like a great build.

Thanks Leon and Dean!
Dean: Its best not to drag that stuff in here. If you want to find out more about it you can go to a General Lee thread over at Fine Scale Modeler. It gets really out of hand so there’s no way I’ll be starting a thread over there. N E ways I’ll continue having fun building a car I’ve wanted to build for s long time now.
Thank you guys for following along.

Cool build Joe, I still enjoy the dukes of hazzrd, even the more recent tv movies versions. Anyway this build is about the car, not the flag (I have a version planned that will offend pretty much everyone, lol)

Managed to dispense and apply the paint. This stuff went on really good. I'll start the wet sanding process in a few days to smooth everything out that much more before I start with the decaling and clear coats. We'll be using the "Wet Look" clear on this one so it'll really pop.

Just found this one Joe.
Nice work on the top removal.
Good to know about the Pro Modeller kit. Have the same one in the stash.
Looking forward to what you do with this one.
I'm quite sure it will be "Joe Quality."
Carry on sir....

Is your pro modeller kit the first one with the dodgy roof or later corrected version?

I read somewhere a while back that the first release of the pro modeller charger had a roof that seemed chopped. I know that both boxes are pretty much the same and the way to tell is by the box logo.

It doesn't look chopped to me as compared to my sons Revell Superbird car body.......so I’m thinking I’ve got a corrected one.

I spent a lot of time over the last couple of days wet sanding the imperfections out of the paint and then applying Bare Metal Foil around all the window trim and drip rails and today...the decals. Here's a couple of shots of how it sits now. Still got the flag decal coated with Microsol to help it all lay flat onto the roofline. Had a couple of areas on the edges where it didn't want to lay down flush. Now to let the cals dry and then off to the gloss coat....my favorite part.

Thanks you guys! Today was Gloss Coat day soooo......I broke out the Testors "Wet Look" Clear ….the ONLY way to go for supreme gloss finishes in my experience. I dispensed it into a paint jar, let 'er gas out for about 5 minutes while I was removing whatever dust particles I could find on the body and went to work. Couldn't be happier with the results. Now...……..to let it cure out for a couple of days before a nice wet sanding and polishing.

I was never a fan of the Dukes of Hazzard. But, out of all the builds of this model that I have seen over the years, yours is just something extra! Looking forward to more!
