Thanks Mark and Deano! I've been out of the loop for the past couple of weeks to changes at work …………….yet again!! All the changes that have affected our shop over the course of the last few months have now affected.....well....my position. Pretty much took all of the tasks that I was performing as a shop supervisor away except for a few menial tasks. So I went to work on designing a whole new set of duties and responsibilities as well as a modified position for myself and so far it's working but it's taking a lot out of me physically. Also I've been on a weight loss program for the last 4 months after seeing myself at a whopping 233 pounds on the scale. The last quarter year has seen me in the gym more often than at the bench in efforts to change things. So far it's not going bad either. I went from wearing 40 inch waist pants that I was having to unbutton at the top button just to sit and drive home to wearing 36 inch waist pants and have dropped 32 pounds down to 201 so far. I still have another 8 pounds to go till I hit my goal of 40 pounds total of weight loss and then it's off to toning what's left up a bit and put everything back in the right place. icon_giggles My long term goal is to run in and compete in the Beach to Bay run here in Corpus at 51 years of age. Hang with me fellas. Just know that I'm still here and commenting and participating but on a more limited scale.

Thanks guys! Hit 200 as of yesterday and looking for 199 at the end of the week.
I wanted to play around with the wheel / tire and stance today. Actually I should've done this step first with an unpainted body but.....I just so happen to have a Revell Superbird kit that has pretty much the same dimensions as this kit does. I robbed a set of Monogram / Revell 1/24 scale street tires that have the perfect dimensions for such a big car as the Charger and used the Eckler Corvette wider wheels in the back and the skinnier OOB MPC ones in the front. I'm kind of likin' this.... icon_hmm_zps07rcoppf

Its kinda hard to tell from that pic (may be a trick of the light) but the front rims might need to be a little deeper dished. In that pic the wheel centre looks to stick out past the rim

I’m building a slightly modified version of this car Les. First it’ll be an R/T. I just can’t build a Charger any other way. Secondly, while it won’t have the slicks and skinny’s on it the front and rear wheel and tires will be staggered in size a noticeable amount. Lastly this car will have a 440 instead of a 383.

Thanks fellas!!
I'm currently working on the chassis and suspension. Before I go too far with the painting I've gotta get the stance set up. One of the good things about going with the Revell kit for a Lee build is that it has ALOT more detail packed into the kit as well as (and this is a definite plus) posable front wheels. I've been spending the last three days cleaning up all the chassis and interior pieces of all flash and mold seam lines. It's not tooooo awful bad really but it's been some work. icon_whistle
Gonna mirror this for the undercarriage color coating...with orange of course....

I've been working on the chassis, rear suspension and exhaust system. Applied a subtle wash to the undersides to bring out some of the details and add some depth. I also hit up the leaf springs and differential edges lightly with a silver lead pencil:

Thanks fellas! I was ready to mock everything up stance wise and see where I was with that part. If the stance is off...then the whole build is a wash. I'm going to have to move the rear wheels forward in the wheel openings just a tad and I'm going to have to reposition the bosses for the front wheel hubs to move the front wheel and tire assemblies up a couple of notches in order to lower the front of the car where it is in the picture. Other than that it looks like it might just be right on. You know I had to do it my way a tad don't you? Wider tires / wheels in the back smaller tires/ skinnier wheels in the front. icon_whistle

Thanks Les! In my opinion, there's three major things to get right with a General Lee build: 1.) The car body-It's gotta look the part and it's gotta be near perfect in regards to the look and finish...……….and 2.) The stance, which I mentioned the previous post and 3.) The wheels. If the wheels are a flub job then the whole thing looks off balance. I've got one of the rear wheels pretty much completed and I feel pretty fair about the outcome. The rear wheels will come from the Eckler Corvette and are a little wider/ deeper for a more aggressive looking Lee. I stuck the tire on a 14mm deep socket (next time I'll use a shallow socket for more control and less wobble) and spun it up on a drill with the tire on some sandpaper to achieve the worn tire tread look.

Wow not sure how i missed this build, but I've just read the lot (and drooled over the pix!) The paint on this is absolutely flawless, DeeCee standard for sure ! And I like the new stance, model building should be about doing things how YOU want, it's your car !! As for all the politics, REALLY ? Can't believe people still moan about that @#¥%& flag !

Thanks fellas! Martin: Yes sir....really. This and one other place are the only two forums I feel comfortable posting it in. lol Ok.....this may not seem like a whole lot of work but believe me....after FOUR friggin' paint strippings to get these wheels right I finally got it done. Additionally I sanded off all of the mold seams on the tires with 1000 grit sanding sticks and worked my way to the 12000 grit range and then chucked 'em up in the drill and spun 'em up with the sidewalls held against my blue jean pants to polish up the sidewalls. After that these two tires got a treatment to some BFGooodrich Radial T/A decals. This deep dish rear wheel/ tire combo really benefited from the white letters and it's gonna look great on the car:
