Todays installment: I had mentioned earlier in this thread that there were issues with the roll cage...It fits perfectly if you don't use the kit instrument panel at all... Oh, and the rear down bars don't make contact with the floor pan. It is a nice piece but it needs a bit of fitting to make it right so here we go... Original cross bar location wont allow instrument panel to fit in place. Had to cut it out and relocate it higher up. (Yeah used some plastic tubing here) As for the rear down bar mounts...A bit short don't you think...Had to shorten the bars and then extend the feet. It ain't pretty but it will suffice...I could have just forced them to hit the floor but, it put an unnatural bend in the down bars. Once it was all sorted out some filler primer and sanding got it looking pretty good. Still have to mount it and finish the interior but that's gonna wait a bit since I am not done laying this thing upside down for fab work and such. Oh yeah, almost forgot! Used the original front cross bar as the main hoop support to triangulate it. Wouldn't be very strong without it if it were real also...It made the assembly look incomplete.

Next up: Fab work (Rear bumper) And the fireball front winch bumper and winch assembly...Stay tuned!!!

Thanks Dale! You will like the kit. Plenty of detail and pretty well engineered. Goes together really well. And you don't have to cut the quarters off to get the high arch wheel openings like I did.

Todays installment: Rear bumper, the kit piece is not what I had in mind for my day 2 build. I made one from some styrene sheet/strips, angle and square rod. After making a pattern off the front bumper to get the shape and overall size. I cut up some plastic and went to town! Flat top plate and strip plastic for the face/edge. A couple of mounting brackets to attach it to the frame along with a ( I said,"what the heck, might as well put a hitch on it too!") Have a hitch tongue and ball from a previous set up. Made a receiver mount from plastic stock to glue to the underside of the bumper. Built a receiver out of two pieces of right angle plastic glued together. Wrapped some thin strip plastic around the edge of the opening to mimic the receiver edge protector. Added a few tow hooks to the underside of it at the frame brackets. Made a pair of reinforcing braces to go from the receiver to the frame mount brackets and...Taa Daa!! Rear bumper!! Finished out the seams, primed/painted and here it is! Oh wait..what are those two little brackets sticking off the back of the bumper for??? That's right! a 48 inch farm jack! No self respecting off roader would hit the trails without one!! Put a piece of 600 grit sand paper painted black on the top of the bumper to look like non skid and called it good. Check it out gang!!

Next installment: Don't know, the sub assemblies are finally coming together and the little details are getting hashed out soo...Anyones guess!! Stay tuned and thanks for looking/commenting!!
