I finally got her in primer after determining that I needed it to determine my progress. I added some side scoops, though not in the vein of the concept but I really didn't want to cut into the body to get that same look. They seem a bit detached but I'll see it they grow on me. I also added some pieces to the B-pillars to give them a little upsweep. They'll need to be molded in to look more a part of the body.
I also sealed the fuel filler door to go with a flush mount filler cap. Now I have to fix the hole where the bit chipped the styrene even though I went slowly and did it by hand. If you'll note the hood (trunk), I created an indent similar to the concept. It turned out pretty well but of course needs some refining.
I used the air dam from the Opel kit underneath and cut the hole based on it. I then used a hobby saw blade to make the gap wider and then heated along a line at the back and was able to bend the plastic down. The air dam formed the front and sides but needed filler to smooth it all out.
I think its a nice touch that adds to the overall look. Kudos to the designer.
The front air ducts were made using part of a chassis pan that fit across the bottom of the kit body pan. I then added end pieces and pieces just outside of the license plate on either side, then cut the center out. I narrowed the headlight sockets vertically like the concept as well, but unlike the concept I've decided to go with the split bumpers in the kit, slimmed down a couple of mm.
The engine cover from the Mid-4 curbie kit works very well I think. It was a two-piece part that I made one piece. It will be painted black and covered with a carbon fiber decal. I'll use honeycomb PE material in the cutouts. I'll do some sanding to the underside and sand the body on the sides to get it to fit flat.
It is hard to see on the pics but I ground a portion out of the body so that the indentation in the engine cover has a nice smooth transition instead of abruptly ending right at the body.
I've got ideas for the rear but I'm not planning on anything radical. Just some dual exhaust tips and maybe an air splitter.
Thanks for looking, and I invite your comments and recommendations, as the design is fluid.

That looking tough as an old boot mate, I'm not too keen on the side scoops though, they dont seem to match the front end to my eye

Thanks for the kind words guys.
I started on setting up the chassis and to get a break from the body work and found more work to do on the body instead. If you'll notice below, the front air ducts angle down in the front, which negatively effects the rake. Sitting flat its not noticeable but looks awkward when its not. I'll need to cut and reposition them I believe.
As for the chassis, I will have to totally redesign the back half because of the lack of room for the suspension and have decided to go with a trailing arm suspension instead of upper and lower A-arms. This is what the Corvair and Corvettes used.
Since I have to redesign the chassis I can narrow the axles and use deeper wheels. That's the plan anyway.

Hmmm, can I make a suggestion ?
Suppose you keep the side parts of the spoiler, in front of the wheels, and cut the rest off ? If you look at the drawing the front spoilers very thin, you could make this with plastic ? Might be less work than chopping up what you have ?
Love this project, and I just want to see you get it done how you want it, good luck with it Dennis she's gonna look way Kool when it's finished !

There is always backward steps on a custom mate, happens all the time, but are usually worth the change as you will end up with a better build in the long run. Keep up the great work Dennis.

I made the decision at the start to do what I needed to do to make this build something to be happy with in the end.

I think I get your suggestion, and its much appreciated. I will always build to my likes but I enjoy the back and forth of ideas because I'm not a designer, more of a copy and alter kind of guy. Thanks.

Thanks everyone for you interest and suggestions. Well I've finalized the look, and now I'll just be making sure its all smooth and symmetrical.
I was struggling with the headlight surrounds because I had reduced their size and at first couldn't figure out how to make sure they were the same size. Then I accidentally discovered that some wooden sticks I use to stir paint fitted the wide end of the sockets, and the other end fitted the narrow end! Stroke of luck. I took the plunge and cut the vents into the body. It was actually easier than I expected, and I love the look. The B-pillar detracts a bit from the top, but there's a lot going on behind there for the rear glass so it is what it is. I reduced the size of the front vents a couple of millimeters and they came out alright, and no more issues with them being too close to the ground

This is my most ambitious build.

I haven't worked on this for a while because I couldn't figure out what to do about the chassis. I finally decided to just use the chassis from the Mid-4 I parted out. The chassis was too short and too wide, so surgery was in order. I added a wide strip about 10mm, then added shorter strip of the same width, then two thin strips to match the added section to the original chassis. Then I had to cut out a raised area to allow the transaxle to fit. In the end though, I will cover that too. I'll be trying to move this along a bit more now that I have the chassis sorted. Thanks for looking and commenting.
