Great progress, i find it makes a huge difference once some paint goes down, it makes it look like you have achieved heaps, and boosts motivation.

Thanks guys. I love it when I can start pulling it together with paint, it is rather satisfying.
I'm keeping this a clean paint job. No weathering on this one.
Hopefully I'll have some more pictures up for you soon.

Ok guys, here is a bit of an update, while I have the time to sit down and add some pics for you to see. Bit of work going on here.. I have played around with the guards and tanks trying to figure out spacing and making sure the brackets fit into the spaces of the chassis (which I am going with the saying that close enough works for me and as long as it sits nicely.) I used bits and pieces of pre bent plastic to keep with the shaping which I was happy that they all seemed to fit together nicely. I have also done some work on the engine. I have used blue for the engine to help give it more of the modern look. I began with the original Volvo green engine but I didn't like the look of it. After changing to the blue I like it much better.

Great to see an update, that is looking real sweet, i prefer the blue engine too, it's nice to be different. As for your "near enough" comment, it looks perfect... Great work so far, tanks and guards look great.

Ok.. So now for some paint. This is exciting. First thing, have to check out how it looks all set up after priming, before I get some colour on. I'm liking it so far... Next step.. black paint. Haven't done anything in black before so we will see how it goes. I have done the initial coat of paint here and you can see that I have also started working on the seats and interior. I'm really impressed with how the seat belts give it the realistic effect. I have added some detail to the seats to try and give it the look of having covers on them. You cant see very well but I have also detailed the dash. Now to continue with more modelling... more to come soon.

So the black paint has been a little more fiddly than I would have liked but not less than I was expecting. After masking and painting and thinking I was done so I unmasked and then decided that I needed to paint again. Getting the finish to look right too was a little more tricky than I was prepared for. But not wanting to give up I tried a top coat of clear and it seemed to have helped out. ( I still have to finish painting the decking plate but the rest is now done. I have set it all up and you now get the idea of the finished project, but it is all just sitting in place.. (although still a long way to go yet...) I have also finished off the interior but have to locate the photos for that.

Nice work mate, I think your's is the first time I've seen the brushes on the guards Thanks, I have used the brushes for the guards before. I had a little help in the inspiration for what to use from dad. The only time I have used fake eyelashes is in my models haha.

I have worked on a couple more details for my truck. The detail that I have ben working on shows it's link to the real GRM transporter, rather than just a plain truck. I have added some detail to the wheels by doing some signwriting. For this I used a clear marker that acts as a glue to write the letters and then embossing powder over the top, then made sure that I got rid of the excess before using a heat gun to seal it all together. This process was a little fiddly as it was difficult to write small with the size of the marker and I had to go over a couple of times to make sure that all of the letters looked the same size and lined up etc. I also added a little detail to the air horns by inscribing GRM into paint that I put on the end.
