Is this a good kit? I've been looking for something for the birth year build off thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon Popcorn%20and%20drink%20emoticon_zpsnbkzs8ys

Is this a good kit? I've been looking for something for the birth year build off Yes, it seems to be a good kit! I assemble the Revell '69 Mach I Amigo kit and I had no issues with it! Tonight I decided to get the engine partially assembled in prep for paint. I displayed the intake manifold on top of the engine without any glue. It will be painted aluminium. The 302 CID engine with the sprue containing the other parts that'll need painting on the sprue. More to come...

I have done a little work on the Boss 302. The engine is mostly assembled and partially painted. I added some Detailer to the carb to bring out some detail. I'll paint the transmission before it is installed in the chassis. More to come...

I had the paintbooth fired up again this afternoon and I decided to paint the chassis and the bottom of the interior tub with some Bright Touch Red Oxide Primer. I'll give this a chance to dry overnight and paint the edges with Tamiya TS-89 Pearl Blue. More to come...

These new kits from Revell are really the bee's knees. Lots of detail. I mean look at the molded in detail on that engine!! Will be watching Mike.

Thanks Deano and Joe! I think I build more Revell kits than any other manufacturer just for the ease of assembly and detail.

Nice job on the paint Mike!
I tried that Rust-Oleum painters choice on one build and all it did was spit out the paint.

Thanks leon! Sounds like you got a bad can of paint. I know it has taken me a while to get use to using this can. It's big and I had to adjust my spraying technique. Just mist it on until I get full coverage. Mist, mist, mist!

I am back on the '69 Boss 302! I built a different model for the Classic Plastic Model Club Exhibition "Club Challenge". So, I am going to drill the cylinder heads and distributor for plug wires. What's this? Why it's the distributor to the Boss 302. I drilled a little too far and the shaft fell out. I replaced it with a piece of round styrene. I drilled out the cylinder heads for plugs wires. More Boss 302 to come...

Thanks Deano and Mark! I may have OD'd on the Classic Plastic Model Club Exhibition this past weekend and I don't feel like working on anything right now. The most I feel like doing is staring at my stash of kits and letting my mind wander.

Haha. Nothing wrong with that. Staring is Step One.

Step one for what? Recovery? Well, if I have to do this in steps, then so be it!

That's funny actually, but no, what I intended to convey is that staring at the project is the first step of any project. For me anyway. I stare at it and wait till it tells me what to do.

I may have to have my kit tell me how to build it. Too much changing colors or wheels and tires during construction.

I may have to have my kit tell me how to build it. Too much changing colors or wheels and tires during construction. I have the same problem Mike, now I do all my painting at the end. But it does keep me interested in the build. I must admit though that some nights I'll sit at the bench and spend the whole time going through and trying all my wheels on them

You may have heard this before, but I think it bears retelling, as it is remarkable. Michelangelo said that when he would go to the quarry to buy stone, he would look at the pieces available and he could "see" what was inside. He said that the stone knew what it wanted to be, and he could not sculpt anything out of that piece of stone other than what it already was inside. He said that once he saw what was inside, and he decided to take on the project, it was a matter of removing the bits of stone that were in between him and the piece. If you have ever seen an unfinished work of his, in the case of a human figure for instance, it appears as if the subject person is emerging from being underwater. It is fascinating. Anyway, how this relates to me is that when I stare at something long enough, once it communicates to me what it wants to be, there is no negotiation. The thing at that point is for me to figure out how to make it happen. As in the case of the wheels on the 2CV Royale, they spoke, I heard, then had to figure out how to do it. I couldn't have made them any other way, because they were already done in my head. That's what I mean when I say "Staring is step one." thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon sCh_reader_zps810724fe

With that being said, I just may have to "stare" at my model build more and maybe the way to a finished build will appear in my head. Thanks Mark!

I'm back on the '69 Boss 302. Instead of using the kit distrutor, I dug through my parts box and found another distributor and drilled it out. I cut 4 light blue wires at 4 inches and inserted them into the distributor and let it dry overnight. This morning, I routed the wires to their appropriate holes. In the process of wiring the engine, I destroyed the fan and belt assembly, so I went back into the parts box and found another fan and belt assembly. Now I can paint the transmission and touchup the engine. I found two sinkmarks in the mufflers on the exhaust system. I filled those with Bondo Glazing and Spot Putty. More Boss 302 to come...

The Mustang Boss 302 is coming along! The interior is partially done and the chassis has been completed. I mocked the wheels and tires after I had attached the tires to a 1/2 socket and ran it with my cordless drill and a sanding stick to rough up the tire surface. The Boss 302 is in the chassis and mostly complete. The instructions didn't call for it, but it is in the kit, so I added the Shelby roll bar to the interior. More Boss 302 to come...
