Started this one yesterday, as waiting for some clear for the 37 ford, that I picked up in a junkyard lot a few years back along with a Dodge charger 500 both which was already built but never painted so that was a bonus. This kit is an orange kit and the charger 500 being yellow had to rob the orange hood for the 500 as someone previously built the 500 with a supercharger and had a huge hole cut in the bonnet which I want to built stock so this kit will be the modified one. Seeing the builds on motm am going the pro touring route with this one, getting down in the weeds with a set of aoshima 19 inch rims. Not sure of color yet but may go for a pearl red but have started the mods on this and by looks of it there will be a few. Started first off cutting into the front apron, from the bottom up, leaving it just hanging on so I could pull the bottom of it out as when it was assembled before I stripped it down you couldn't see it, it was tucked that far back and up into the body all I could see was motor and chassis from the front. Added thin strips of evergreen then where the cuts were made and super glued them in position. Once dry I sanded it all back down and while I was at it removed the front turn signals from the guards and also made a panel from the front apron to the chassis out of evergreen to give it a more sleeker appearance. Then it was on to the chassis, no matter which way I was looking at it there was no way I was going to use the front part of this chassis, no detail and metal axle, so it was out with the saw and cut the front part of the chassis off. As luck had it I had a revell challenger ta chassis in the parts box that needs very little modification and with modifying the stub axle brings the whole front end in the weeds. Tonight will make a start on the rear end but not sure on the path that I will go yet, 4 link or modified leaf springs will have to check out what I have in the parts box. The hood on this one came from the 500 and wanted something a little different but big enough to cover the hole on it so used the top part of the scoop from a revell 55 chev pro sportsman kit. Cheers and thanks for looking and the stock chassis

Super cool stuff going on here. I really dig the front end transplant. The stance is mean. Really want to see this play out.

You've got a real tough look to the front now, and adding those little pieces really ties it all together

Hello Steve,
The way the front end has been smoothed reminds me of the Ridler customs.
Very nice indeed. Carry on sir.

Nice work, seems like you had to rebuild the entire front end to get it to work together but it looks like it was worth the effort

Dude can I ever feel your pain with hard to deal with kits. I have built several of the older Revell auto kits and know all to well about correcting the boo-boo's associated with some of those kits. If they weren't such good subject matter then I probably would've thrown in the towel on those but in the end it's all worth it. It's more of getting through the challenge than anything else. Fantastic work on this one Steve.

Hello Steve,
I am taking inspiration from this build. I realize that you feel it might be cursed, however the net result is you are doing some great work. I am realizing as I look through these threads that all kits need to be massaged to one degree or another, and it appears that because this one is such a challenging specimen (charcoal), you are massaging it much more than you would have otherwise. The net result being that what you are creating is a diamond, and will have much more value to you, and to us your viewers. You benefit from overcoming the challenges by increasing your skill set, and creating something very unique, and we benefit from gleaning tips and garnering the courage to take on each kit as it comes and pick away at whatever it may present. Keep on keeping on sir. two-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon
