I spent 6 hours staring at kits, and finally pulled the trigger on this Datsun ute... But it wont be a lowrider. I have seen a few shows lately with the JDM theme on the old Jap builds, so i thought "why not" !! And these wheels will be perfect.. I don't like the way the flare flattens out on the inner radius, So the black part will be filed out to round it off like the fronts.. And being a CURBSIDE kit, that needs changing !!!

Thanks Scotti, now i know what the engine is out of, i can show what else i got done last night... Opened up the hood, i don't see any benefit from doing curb side.... I have found a BMW F1 4CYL DOHC engine for the little rocket Here is a grab from the interweb. ""1976 BMW M12/7 F1 engine. The block is a 1,5L M10, as used in the 1500, and of the same design as the 2,0L in the 2002, with a bespoke DOHC head design. 1380HP in max tune. 27 hours between refreshes. Don't put this in your daily driver. "" If we dial it back a bit, to say 1000hp, it should last a bit longer i reckon...

Cool Dale been catching up on the show myself and their shop truck is pretty cool looking. Haven't seen one of these kits being built and didn't realize these were a curb side kit so will definitely be watching as I have had my eye on one of these kits for a while now.

I was thinking of building one with mini tubs, late model suspension, big inline six and late model interior but seeing jdm's ute has set the brain thinking. Looking forward to see what you do under the bonnet and how you set it up

She's going to be some work mate, but got started on the chassis tonight. That JDM Garage ute is so cool, but i have something a little different in mind, i like the white with black bolt on's look they tend to do a fair bit.. THE INSPIRATION. Here is a pic of the chassis... WOOPS... Wrong pic, that is everything i REMOVED from the chassis.... Here is what is left.. Now for some strengthening and make some cross members etc..

When I saw that first chassis picture, I was like thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon what has Dale got himself into, then the second pic was like . I do like what they have done to the 1200 ute, with the front clip from a pgc10 skyline.

I thought that a couple of times too mate, but i find, if i think too hard or too long, it wont happen, so i just start cutting, and then worry how i'm gonna make it work.. Tonight, i started strengthen and tidying the chassis with Styrene. New rails, front to rear, and line the inner of the chassis, next job will be to try fit the motor and work on cross members..

BUT!, i think i can make this upside-down Roadrunner/GTX grill look almost right...ish...

Really trick looking truck mate ! Great work on the chassis, personally I like it without the front bumper, how about rounded corner bumpers or just a mesh behind those air intakes ? Looking forward to more on this... Popcorn%20and%20drink%20emoticon_zpsnbkzs8ys

Looking forward to more on this... Thanks Leon, Joe, Steve, it's good to have a "spares box", and i knew i had a GTX grill in there, "bonus" that it worked too. Cheers Joel, Scotti, no turbo's on this one mate, i'm having trouble fitting in the F1 style exhaust, but i'll get there. Martin, i think your right on that call, i haven't really liked the bumper, but was going to see how it looked in black, and i've found some mesh for the intakes and grill... Hope to have another update a bit later today guys..

Thanks Deano, Les... I have had a few days working on the house again, but i'm back on to this one today. Had to severely modify the inner fenders to accommodate the injection and some sort of exghaust set up. Got the engine done pretty much, and added the little tubes in the injection too...
