My very first lacquer job, so it's a bit rough. Color is Model Master GTS Blue Pearl and it looks WAY better in person than in these pics! I did 2 coats of Testors Wet Look on it but I think it's time to buy some Novus stuff....Anyway, the engine stuff is courtesy of my girlfriend's craft wire and seed beads! I made the throttle return springs out of windings from the motor of a vacuum cleaner that I recently smashed to fit in my garbage bin! Any help on this lacquer problem would be greatly appreciated as I'm no longer going to wait for 2 weeks for enamel to dry.......

I'm hardly the expert here, but I can share what works for me. I've been using Tamiya spray laquers and Testors regular clear laquer. (I tried the Testors "wet look" but it sprayed just horribly...lots of lumps and spatters.) Here's a recent build I did...no sanding whatsoever... custom-model-society.boards.net/thread/908/moebius-1955-chrysler-300?page=1&scrollTo=13949Here's one I'm working on now. Color is Tamiya Metallic Green. This one was grainy enough so that I felt it needed a bit of sanding, but just a bit...spent maybe 5 minutes on it. Followed that with 3 very thin coats of the Testors clear. The laquers dry so quickly that I was able to to this all today. Not a mirror finish, but pretty darn good for very little effort.

I'm going to have to try the lacquer. I've heard good things about it.

COOL looking Dart there mate, and that engine detail is off the chart... two-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon
The best results with these types of paint is usually determined before the color is applied mate, the more light blocking you do, the better the result will be.

Thank you! I agree DeeCee. I think I treated this too much like an enamel job. Should have spent more time on the primer and sanding...I'm doing a '64 Belvedere next so I'll focus more on the prep for sure....I have an old 'Cuda hood I think I'll practice on before I do the real deal. I have some VERY worn out chunks of super fine grit sandpaper to wet sand with, should work out ok...
