Alright everyone. A few of us have been tossing ideas around for next year's MOTM themes. I'm starting this thread just to get the ball rolling on those ideas. Anything you think would make a good theme, let's add it here. In a couple of months we'll start a poll and see what 12 are the favorite ones.
So if you think of anything that you would like to build and enter into a contest here, let's hear them. Here are a couple that have been in my mind. Some may require more time, like Dale said in the chat so ideas for 3 month builds are also welcomed.
- Apocalyptic vehicle - 80-90s Mini truckin - Rear Engine Dragsters - Cadillacs - Pimp My Ride
What would you like to see?

Welder-up style rat rod. Maybe even with the Diesel engine?? Bit out there on that bit though.
Boat... would love to tackle a HEMI HYDRO or race style boat again, but could include any "trailer" toy, bikes, boats, jet ski, buggy etc, all towed behind a pick-up/ 4x4 etc, would be a 3 month build though. Excluding cars on the trailer.

Amusic theme could be fun, there's loads of songs about cars or even the cars from the videos, Cops and robbers- build the ultimate pursuit or getaway vehicle, monster garage type builds- it's a car but what else does it do, wagons- factory or custom/concept,

I know most of us are car people and the above suggestions seem feasible. What about trying to challenge ourselves with something we wouldn't build, like a plane or heli? I know I need to step out of my comfort zone a little bit.

I like the music theme idea. Also the ultimate pursuit but I think that would be a 3 monther to build the scene. Wagons is always an awesome theme.
I'm torn on the plane/heli idea. I like wanting to get out of our comfort zone but being a forum focused on cars I feel like we'd be going against what we are. I also would not know how to judge since I don't know much....or anything really about aircrafts. But I don't know. Anyone else want to weigh in.
All those are great Poet. Very specific. I feel like anyone of those could fit into almost any category if built the right way.
I love that you guys are all adding ideas. Keep them coming.

Well, whilst mowing the lawn today I thought about this one for a personal build, but thought it also might be great for a MOTM. Dovetailing off the ultimate pursuit, how about a moonshiners derby? All cars and equipment must be period (American liquor prohibition period) but unlimited, except for room for the brew! Don't know much about them at all myself except for what I've seen on the telly but I love researching car stuff!

Maybe crashed or junked weathered cars (or trucks), as in a really bad barn find? The demo derby idea sounds fun too!

As for rust bucket/crashed cars I have an old glue bomb Challenger I could easily take the 340 6 pack out and crunch it up and weather it. The only thing, would we need a diorama? I still like the idea of the demo derby too...That would be fun just to junk out an old car, paint things on it that make no sense, non-matching tires, etc... The possibilities would be endless!! nerwth_bf-devilsmiley

Also as Iceman mentioned, some Mad Max type vehicles would be cool too - and a great way to get rid of all of those pesky spare sprue trees!! I can also build a lemon racer (I just had a warped idea about that, with a REAL lemon!)

Hi since its smaller version been mentioned how about ships. I realise this is mainly a cars forum but if your looking for a change ships are great, im not that up on modern ships but anyone needing help need only shout, there are a few simple ones i could suggest revells santa maria at £20.69 is a great kit it says skill level 5, I built it in my teens and had no trouble with it, it has VERY simplifed rigging so even that is not a problem revells viking sailing ship £17.99 skill level 3 is a great kit too my brother recently built it (he has learning difficulties) it turned out great, yes the painting could have been better but it went together well and ive seen other builds of it by pros and it can be made to look awesome. Or if you dont fancy sailing ships theres revells sunseeker predator £26.90 Or tamiya Australian destroyer£14.99 Also both great kits. I would love to see more people building ships, maybe the kit makers would release some new ones then.

I kinda like the idea about something non vehicle, not necessarily as motm but maybe as a lms. I know we have members that build other things and even if its not something we build ourselves, we can still get ideas and inspiration from them. The pimp my ride idea I like but for it I would suggest you have to start with something built up and do the pimping from there as they did in the show, and for the folks that aren't into custom stuff allow an alternative to resto a build in the same months build if its voted for.

Ok Guys, I'll throw in my two cents. Got a few ideas,
- Open Title (build whatever you like-as long as it has wheels) - Muscle Cars! (The Golden Age 1965-1975) - Back to Basics (Straight OOTB, no modifications, only basic engine detailing allowed) - Junkyard Gems (Junker, Barn find, Crashed, etc) - Rods (Traditional, Street, Hi-Tech, as long as it's pre'48) - TV/Movie cars (I think this one would need to be a 3 month build) - Moonshine Runners (would be a lot of fun)
