I like all the ideas coming in!
Let me,play devils advocate here for a bit. For the open theme, would it be difficult to judge when it comes to voting? Just curious. I do like the flexibility of building anything though.

How about this - the funniest thing you can imagine!! We are all doing kits, trying to out-do each other with contests, right? It's a friendly competition which is great! Instead of focusing on who the best builder is with details, wiring, hoses,etc... Why not have some serious fun - I know you all have boxes of sprue & trees just like me, and this could be downright crazy and there would be no limits, the more insane, the better! I don't think this has ever happened on any forum!
I kind of look at it like this : the contest should not have anything to do with having a perfect car or truck. Make it how you want it, any vehicle as long as it's outrageous, and make it hilarious! We could all use a good chuckle! Weather it, smash it, put Ken and Barbie super glued to upside down to the roof of a beat-up rat rod. Everyone has a model that just plain sucks right? You want to destroy it in a great way and get a few laughs just for fun? If you think about the possibilities, endless.
Sound Fun?

Worth thinking about... we'll put it on the list, i reckon make something as car-toonish as we can would also be fun, a bit like Auto cat and motormouse used to build.. |

Exactly! Instead of having a perfect vehicle, why not have a contest about the most insane kitbashing imaginable? THAT would not only be hilarious, but I'm sure plenty of good laughs for all! Right now I can see a 4wd Hemi Panther Pink Volkswagen bug with a figure of David Hasselhoff clinging to the rear bumper hanging on for dear life...Maybe all of these years of watching Monty Python's Flying Circus finally fried my mind? Here is my idea - the more stupid and outrageous...I'm sure you all know where this is going..DeeCee, built with imagination as you quote!! Just my input, but I think this would be a complete riot, no rules except it has to make everyone have a good chuckle. As we speak I'm thinking about ripping the Cat engine out of my Kenworth W900 and shoehorning it into an AMC Pacer. Hey, after it's all said and done, this hobby is for enjoyment, why not make it totally crazy for just one month?

That right there is perfect, if Welder-up can put those Cat diesel engines in a '32, i can't see why they can't be put into a pacer either, i like this idea even more with that example.. Would rather see the Hoff under the wheels though.  |

Welder-up style rat rod. Maybe even with the Diesel engine?? Bit out there on that bit though. Boat... would love to tackle a HEMI HYDRO or race style boat again, but could include any "trailer" toy, bikes, boats, jet ski, buggy etc, all towed behind a pick-up/ 4x4 etc, would be a 3 month build though. Excluding cars on the trailer. I'm liking the ideas Dale has thrown out there!! The idea of "anything plus the trailer" build would be soooo cool! So many ways it can be done, bass boat, Hemi Hydro, water craft, and maybe a camper, utility trailer with junk in it!?! But the others mentioned are also cool!! David S. |

Alright everyone. It's the last 3 months of the year and I know there are some of you that like to build ahead so I figured it's a good time to put this list together for themes for MOTM. Once I have it we'll vote on them. Here's what I see so far. (some have been grouped together) - Apocalyptic vehicle - 80-90s Mini truckin - Rear Engine Dragsters - Cadillacs - Pimp My Ride (rebuild an existing build) - Rat Rods - Recreational Vehicles "trailer toys" - Wagons - Cars in songs - European cars - Moonshine runners(period correct) - Demolition Derby - Figure 8 cars (60-70) - Lemon Racers ( 24HoursOfLemons) - Barn finds - Any race car - Show Rods - Open build - Muscle Car (65-75) - Out of the Box - TV/Movie Cars - Rods (Traditional, Street, Hi-Tech, as long as it's pre'48) - Lowriders - Non automotive theme If you think of any others that need to be added, let me know. I'll give it a week or so before I create a poll for them. |

I was also thinking really hard about doing the rebuilding kit kind of like doing a diamond in the rough before pictures of what it looked like and then what we come up with as rebuilding it I was also thinking why don't we do some sort of a build having to do with ed Roth build

How about a single kit ...say a 32 or 55 chev kit. Everyone has to build the same kit but can mod it any way they like. ?
Or engine transplants ...build something with different engines
Choppers - model must be chopped and / or channeled

how about a custom build, but the kicker is no paint other than clear so we can see everything that has been done to the build. sorta like the unfinished category at a 1/1 show
