I'll be building the belkits mk1 escort rs1600. No pics just now due to photobucket but will be posting new ones later. I will be staying box stock except for possibly swapping the wheels to some from the old revell mk2 escort. It looks to be a good kit and as I haven't seen any built yet I will do a build review as I go. I believe it is the roger clark version I am building and remeber very well watching him race when I was a kid, though not in this car. It's a curbside kit so that should hopefully mean I have time to get it finished. The decals may be a challenge as I dont usually use them but will give them a shot.

Looking good Stitch, been wanting to get hold of one of these for a while ! Looking forward to this as I've not seen any built yet either.... For the price I'm surprised there's no engine, assumed you'd get a little crossflow in it... sSig_DOH

I have a few of these and one is going to be a rover v8 thundersaloon

Gotta love a good escort I had a mk2 2.0L (square light) 2 door back in my younger days, wish I'd never sold it. I WILL be watching and picking one of these up soon.

Cheers guys, well got a little progress to day and got everything in primer. I need to redo one front wing as some dirt got in the primer but if it's nice tomorrow I should get the paint on. Now a little question, I am using the decals so should I polish the body before applying, so I can clear them later?

Polish the body first Les, the decals will glide right on.

I always polish first, will get a lot better looking finish, then decals then the clear

I always polish first, will get a lot better looking finish, then decals then the clear Sounds like good advice. Just one question so I don't mess this part up. You do have to wash the body after polishing/ decaling to get the clear coat to go on with no problems..............correct? No smartallic here....just an honest question.

My camera does that when I take pics in the shade, not sure how to stop it either Take pics in the light..... maybe... You have your camera lighting preference set on "fluorescent" lighting. There should be settings for Incandescent, Flourescent, Daylight, Cloudy.....etc. You'll get it all ironed out when you find those settings in your camera. There should also be a setting called "D-Lighting" in there somewhere depending on if you have a little higher end camera than a "point and shoot". All of my photos seemed really dark ALL THE TIME back a few years ago and then I discovered that setting and it brings out more light / detail and reduces shadowing. Check it out.....it should be in there somewhere.

It's kinda weird how it does the blue tinge, I think it's down to ultraviolet or infrared not getting through the filters. Maybe I should just give up and read the instructions (if I can find them, lol)

lol. I hear ya on the instructions. I lost mine. Even on auto you can still set the lighting function in settings. All the auto does is auto focus and automatically adjust some of the tinting. Your lighting selections are a separate adjustment.

I've not had much building time recently due to nice weather and other stuff happening but I did get back to the paint today. I gave it a few more heavy coats of white primer (it was brighter than my white paint) and it's had multiple coats of clear so will need a lot of polishing before I apply the decals, and then many more coats of clear. I've also got all the bits that are black or silver/alu painted black but some will need satin and matt coating as I did them all in gloss Edit- this time the pics were taken in the light, the blue may be down to the camera trying to make it show better
