As of late things in the modeling world have taken a bite out of me. I have discovered the dark side of the hobby. Had a couple of trade deals on a couple of model sites not go too well. A couple of other trade deals closer to home not go too well either. Not having a great time making trade deals these days. Things fall apart, stuff I get ends up being damaged or not exactly what was agreed on. The worst part is sending out stuff and never getting my end of the trade deal. Then finding out someone you were dealing with has been dragging things out with you while making deals and following through with other folks. I have one guy I deal with trading and that will be the only person I deal with from now on. Too old and too tired for the drama as I have enough on my plate these days. When the pending dealings are finalized that will be it. Frustrated and disappointed by these trade deals. Going to stick to just outright buying and selling and avoid unneeded drama. Sorry, just venting a little.

Dang Chas. Sorry to hear the misfortune on trading. I guess it's a roll of the dice. I've had pretty good luck with trading but I keep it within a small community. Hang in there bro, there are still good folks left in the world. If you ever need anything gimme a shout. I'll do my absolute best to help you out AND in a timely manner.

I appreciate it. Needs are small. Just when something is set up and my end of the deal is immediate and the other party putters around and it's delay after delay with constant excuses or stuff is sent poorly packaged and is damaged or not what was described in the pictures shown just gets to me. Don't have the time for this nonsense anymore. Not losing faith, just wearing out. Life has kicked my butt pretty good lately and this stuff is the last thing I need now. So...I'm going to back away from the trading and concentrate more on the building and let this other stuff go. Maybe when the dust settles I will start looking for parts again?

Dang bub sorry to here that but there's always one in the bunch I deal with people but is in a small group that way the drama is not there keep your head up

I got stung on a buy on facebook too, only to find the guy that stole my money selling the kit I already bought on ebay. I got burned on my first trade too, so now I dont worry about getting something back. I only trade out stuff I have no use for so would rather see it put to use than gathering dust and, unless it's for stuff I actually need or whole kits, I only ask that they do the same for someone. I find it helps the community get stronger

Had a couple like that recently
There is all this good trader bad trader junk with this particular website. In short, it's screen shots of all the drama that needs to be sent then a whole bunch of other members comment like mad and you attack the guys Facebook and basically throw them under the bus. I just don't have the time for that. I have done lots of deals on different Facebook model sites and managed to stay under the radar. My deals are good on my end and the majority have been positive deals without issues. I do not report these deals. If that aggravates anybody it is what it is. I just do not want to be part of that stuff. Seems like too many people in my business. Outright buys have netted a couple of bad deals but things were worked out. The trades though have not gone well. There is a couple that have not been finalized for like a year and I have been far to passive and nice and it's bit me in the Arse. So...I'm going to get a bit more gnarly and get these done and take a break. I have lots to build so maybe it's time to get busy and let this time consuming drama rest.

Hang in there, Chas..... You are headed in the right direction....focus on the things you have and get to some building.
I mingle in model car kits and "old school" slot cars. I have learned that these hobbies have closely-knitted families. I have gotten burned on two occasions...both when dealing outside of "the families" (but have made successful deals outside the family as well).
There are just scumbags out there who play games with honest people....unfortunately we can't just sort them out.
