Talked to Paul Gardner about this model just last night. I snagged it off Ebay and the car was listed as a 1967. We chatted about the tail lights being wrong for a 1967. Paul made mention he thought they were not right. So...I did a bit of research and found that the car is in fact a 1969. I have reached out to a couple of model groups I am in with guys who bought and built these as adults when they were new to find out is rarity and availability of parts as I need a few. I do not know if this is AMT or MPC? I am waiting on that information. So, moving on with the knowledge I have as of now I am starting a rescue, restoration, and restore of this as my challenge. I begin with this hideous built up that was painted with a paint brush. I had this model completely stripped down only an hour after it hit my mail box. The chassis and chassis parts and the body and body parts are in the dip right now getting stripped. My plan is to restore as much of the original parts that I can and reuse them in bringing this car back to its glory days. I'm listing it under stock because I want this one as close to stock as I can get it so this will be a first for me. Hope I can do it some justice?? Enjoy the pics and the pics coming on this one!

I should post some of the stuff I have restored! Is there a place to post completed builds like a library or special folder??

Cannot load pictures for some reason. The way I do the pictures on this thread for instance does not work loading them into the gallery. I post from P-bucket. I click on the picture info and load the picture. When I do that for the gallery it says I have to end in JPG and the picture has to start with HTTP. I delete stuff to get it like that and either it loads a little box with no picture or I get that goofy looking cat thingy saying to click on something or another. Going to have to play around with this a bit. Manual cut and paste perhaps??

Was on the way home when you posted that about the pics but looks like good ol' Les has got you taken care of.
What's really messed up is that I've been a member of MCM now for going on 4 years and I still can't post pictures directly in there from PB!! I have to copy and paste all my pictures in there from other forums. I%20dunno_zpsgjbxiscc

24 hours in the dip and 3 scrapings sessions and this is how far I have gotten this body. This green and orange paint is the worst stuff I have removed in a long time. Going to keep at it and get this stripped.

Who knows what type of paint it was. Maybe an oil based house paint? I have only had one other paint job this hard. It was on an annual 64 Vette. Took two months to get the paint off, do the bodywork, smooth it, and get the paint on the body. That car is done, its in my gallery, the burnt orange metallic 64 Vette. This one is a very close second.

It is, but it will be worth it to have a rare old model car restored.

Well....its stripped. All that is left is about an hour clean up here and there on this body then the bodywork and wet sanding the body and it will be ready for paint. On the chassis and interior the funny thing is the 71 AMT T Bird that is out there has essentially the same parts. The chassis is a bit better and the interior tub at least is the same. I may try to find one at the swap this weekend if I can find a parts kit just to get a couple of parts that broke on dis assembly. Not a big deal, only one shock and the track bar broke. I could just make new ones but if I can find one of these 71s cheap I might just get it as I need a 429 motor too so it might be a good purchase. The whole idea on this car was to restore it and I want to use as much original parts as I can. I have a brand new body but I want to try and save this old one first. Being an old Mopar guy I sure do have a lot old vintage Ford builds that are not easy to find. I just secured a deal on a 66 AMT Tasca Ford Mustang fastback. Why can't I find old Mopar models like this LOL. Anyhow, here is the latest pictures of this body and chassis stuff stripped as good as I can get it. My hands hurt and are raw from all the scraping away on these parts.

I bet a propane torch would take care of that old paint. What could possibly go wrong?
