As shown back a few weeks ago , I got my son a Revell Pro Finish Fw190 and P-51 Mustang. I guess given my love (and modeling influence) for the Fw190, he went with that one first. Our subject, the 190, appears to be a mix of variants but I'd venture to say that it's an F-8 model since that's the only variant that could carry bombs. I'll be helping him most of the way through the build (which would take about 5 minutes to build if it were totally up to him ) to instill a little patience and creativeness in him. He's used to building Legos and he can put most of the larger kits (500+ pieces ) together in just a few hours so this'll be a challenge for him in the patience department. I think I can round up a spare set of swastikas for the tail and I'll be showing him how to pull off a pretty squeaky clean install of an aerial antenna to give the build a little boost.
The kit:
and the layout/ break down of all the parts on HIS workbench:( the neat thing about these kits is that they come pre-painted and turn out pretty cool looking when built and I think he'll be happy with it since he has no airbrush experience yet)

Very good thing to do. How old is your son? I did succeed at getting him away from the computer/ Xbox to work on something that he has something to show for. He's 12 years old .

I worked with him pretty close on getting the gear set up at just the right angles but he did most of the work.

Looks like good work too. Thanks Dennis. He listens to me for the most part. Sometimes he comes up with his own ideas of doing things and while not trying to force his hand I'll explain why he should or shouldn't do things and then I just let him go from there. Most times he goes with what I say. We almost had a glue disaster with a close call on tipping the Tamiya thin cement over.
