Just a nice mild looking Karmann Ghia with a surprise in the back. I lowered it and upsized the brakes and it has stock wheels but widened at the rear. The paint was done thin to give the feel of an old cars thats in original paint thats been polished enough the primer is starting to show through. I used tyres from a fujimi nissan on the rear. The interior is stock but i used nail art decals for that 80s cal look vibe. But how do you make an old ghia fast? well you use the vw engine as the doorstop it was always destined to be and throw a suburu wrx turbo engine in the back for an easy 5 times the horsepower but its probably more than that, lol |

That Scoobie engine fits a treat, bet it would go like a rocket !

That Scoobie engine fits a treat, bet it would go like a rocket ! its one of the anniversaries for the ghia next year so dont be surprised if it gets a re-release. Tamiya seem to be starting to put out more older kits recently. The gunze ghia might be easier to find but you'd need a tamiya bug to make it full detail and replace the crappy rubber seats and door panels and it has the benefit of the roof being seperate so its an easy cabrio conversion too. I've had a few shots of a suburu engined bus and it was fun, fast and desperately needed brakes and suspension work cos it bounced like zebedee on speed when you floored it and screamed when you tried to brake (but that could have been me, lol) |
