Well Gentlemen, it has started! My build of Aoshima's 1985 5000QV Countach! Being an 80s child, the Countach holds a special place in my heart, along with the Testarossa, F40 and Vector W12!
Now, if we are talking Countach, is there any other combo other than the "Cocaine Countach". That's triple white..White paint, white interior and white wheels..
So far it's just been lots of reference research, lots if sanding, filing of seams, air brushing small parts, etc. I've started with the finer details, assembling the tail lamps, Park light/indicator lamps and the wheels-Complete with tyre black! The same product I use on our family car tyres!
Stay tuned for more updates!

Those tires look bad (Word Censored By Forum Administrator)!! I have some of that tire black in the garage as well, never thought to use it on a build, but i will for sure give that a try!!

After 30 years of building predominantly US cars and a Japanese ones, I'm at the point where I want to branch out to exotics. And these Aoshima kits are an absolute delight to build.

Got the engine started. Those ignition leads and clamps took over 3.5 hours to do, as per Countach reference photos. Never spent so long on leads before!
And for whatever reason I'm having trouble uploading photos from Flickr.

Well, Life has gotten in the way of my bench time lately. All my own doing (various projects around home, sold a car, bought another one, drove it home, pulled it apart, cleaned, detailed, serviced, etc.) Plus day to day family life has paused model building for a while. BUT I have made some progress on the Countach! Chassis, engine bay and interior are all done: Some mild weathering on the chassis Engine bay in place. Finished interior. The doors are also complete, but the body has been whooping my (Word Censored By Forum Administrator)! I've had so much trouble with the paint it's not even funny anymore. But I will get there. Hopefully get back to it soon.

Outstanding work! I actually got to sit in the drivers seat of one. I worked for an electric utility and they sponsored an annual electric car race. PPG was a sponsor and they always brought in a stable of nice cars. I was talking with one of the guys who tended to them and he asked if I wanted to see how it felt. You don't sit in those things, you fall into them and wear them!

You forgot to mention that you have to climb out of it. lololol

I GOT IT!!!!! A spare hour yesterday saw me able to get the body painted, and it came up great. All the other body parts for the car are already done, painted and cleared. It has just the main body that has been giving me grief. Now I'll let it sit for a week before I wet sand it glass flat and decal it before clear.

This does indeed look great Bruce and I know the feeling of success after time away from the bench all too well. Good to see you back on this one buddy and great work going on at that.

This is the link for the kit I have, currently on sale too!
It is absolutely worth the money, very well engineered kit and very well detailed too. Comes with options to build the '85 model or the '88 model.

For $25 that's a real sweetheart of a deal. I wonder how much the shipping will be? Looking forward to seeing the next update on this cool build Bruce.

It's been a little bit, but I'm back at it on the Countach! So many parts to the body assembly of this car. (30plus at a guess). But so far, I'm loving how it looks, a very convincing model. I suspect the doors are going to give me some grief though. Stay Tuned!
And here's the engine bay in finished form.
