thanks, its really simple and cheap. take a couple of those soap filled wire wool pads and rinse out the soap. then put them in some white vinegar until they are nothing but rust which takes about 2 weeks if its sunny. mash the rust you now have down until its dust (I use a mortar and pestle dish). now i spray the item with enamel spray paint then dust over the wet paint with the rust powder.a little goes a long way and those 2 pads will last for ages. if you want a crusty rust just spray another coat of enamel over the still wet previous and dust it again. as the enamel dries its will crust up the rust into layers like indusrial rust as seen on one fender inside and the rear or the tractor. the only real cost is the enamel paint and its can be cheap stuff cos it wont be seen anyway. I used silver for this but i missed some spots but that just mean i can play with some other weathering stuff

Think it'll start??? Well done !! I've pulled one out of a midden where it has sat for over 30 years with only the top of the rear rims showing. a jetwash, fresh oil and clean fuel and it started right up. Here it is 3 months later. I did all the paint and panels. The hood is made from the best bits of 4 because my uncle was too cheap to buy a new one and i refused to paint the pos he had for it
