As much as Ive been plugging the Lowrider scene to my son Jamie, hes got this obsession for the Mazda MX5 ! He also loves drifting, so i bought him a course of drifting lessons, in an MX5
Hes now bought a real MX5, plans on changing the wheels and lowering it ( good lad, i taught him well, he loves the Stance )
Anyway despite me not having any interest in building lately, i thougt a model for him might inspire me ! I purchased the tamiya Mk1 version, which he drifted in, but he owns a Mk2, so im building a model of him drifting on a small diarama... Should be a cool little Xmas present i reckon..
So far the suspension is together, dropped on one side and the front wheels on full lock, it should look pretty good.
Im adding a hard top roof, and i found a scalextric driver too to add in later !
More soon, thanks for checking in !

Hmmm ok so a bit of a delay on this, been taking care of mum after she broke her arm in two places ! Anyway its coming along slowly, interior is done, Little scalextric man needed bending about to fit, then i cut his head off so he could look sideways ! Seatbelts etc and it looks ok i think. Heres a mock up on the base, just simple but i might add a few more bits later. Oh and im experimenting with smoke, well cotton wool, there be more than this im just trying it out

Cool, I like how you got the suspension sitting, lots of drift cars I've seen dont get it sitting to show movement but you've managed it. Hope your mum recovers quick mate

Thanks Stich, yes shes getting better slowly mate... Back to the Driftcar.. Its FINISHED... Bit of a rush as i had a slight paint issue after polishing it, but it came out ok. Luckily the real drift cars are not perfectly painted so its pass-able ! My cotton wool smoke seemed to work ok, so im really pleased with the overal result ! My son was well pleased with it too, extra Dad points for sure ! Feels good to finish one up, hope im inspired again soon..
Anyway some pics, i addded a few trees but didnt take pics of that...
