Hey Folks! With my trike in putty and primer, I decided to take on a simple build. This will be another tribute build and will be in memory of my brother-in-law, who was my best friends brother, and whom I connected with because of his love for cars. He had a 63 Ford Galaxie 500 (not XL) that originally came with a 289 and bench seats and I want to duplicate more in the mold of what he wanted to do with his rather than what it was. We yanked out the tired 289 and dropped a 390 in it that turned out to be a smoker, then swapped that out for a 352, which had its own issues but still ran pretty well after some work. As I mentioned, his had bench seats but the kit comes with bucket seats so I think I'll run with those because I'm sure I can't find bench seats to match the rear seats. He had chrome reverse wheels with baby moon hubcaps which I have from the 53 Ford Truck kit, and L60 tires on the rear. This was around the year 1972.
I'm posting a pic of a random car that matches the color scheme of his, and a mock-up of the kit. Thanks for looking and commenting.

Looking forward to your version of the '63 Galaxie! I once owned '63 Galaxie 500 with a 352 and a 4-barrel carb and dual exhausts. I used the kit you described and left the interior as is with the bucket seats, but painted the body light metallic brown with a white roof and fender skirts as my 1:1 was.

Sounds like you had a nice car. Even with the 352 those things could move!

It had a 4 barrel carb and a low restriction air cleaner from a '70 Roadrunner. Long dual exhausts with a Cherry Bomb muffler at the ends behind the rear bumper. It had a nice grumble.and wasn't too loud!

Those big Fords look good in Poppy or Rangoon Red! I am a fan of baby moons and chrome reverse rims too. This is gonna be a stunner when done!!
