Hi guys !
Yeah its been a while , but i got fed up with cars ! Absolutely no enthusiasm left i needed a break, or a change ! So for the first time in about 40 years im building a plane !
I cant remember the last time i built a model out the box, and Im struggling with this, so i might build it crashed...
Anyway its a Mitsubishi A6M3, Tamiya 1/48, i quite like these as there easy to paint, no difficult camouflage anyway.. Theres a P/E set and seat belts added, mostly copied from Internet pics as Ive no clue on planes...
Ive also added wiring, and handles etc but its coming along. Oh and the cockpit is just over an inch long to give u an idea !
Not sure whats next when this is complete, maybe a car who knows ?
Thanks for looking !
And heres the side panels..... not finished yet !

I know what you mean Martin. I'm using every mind trick I have to get my brain in the right place. Looks like you're off to a great start with this one. So many details in such a tiny space. You're smashing it sir. (Figuratively) Keep up the great work!

Perhaps something that goes around at only a slightly lower altitude?
Cheers,

This is definitely cool and you chose one of the best kits out there being a Tamiya. Great details and good fit right from the box. You're off to a fantastic start on this one with all the detailing, painting and weathering work. You've got my attention for sure.

Thanks guys ! And moramarth Id rather build a Barbie House than build a Donk, it aint gonna happen mate ! ! Been waiting for a tin of paint to arrive... From Germany i think, but it took weeks.. So now thats here i can carry on... Planes together, and heres the first layer of paint ! Yes I was going for straight paint but as Im not bending it up I thought Id try and get a half decent paintjob on it... Next up is a clear coat, weathering, chipping then finally a matt coat ! Thanks for looking !

Looks really good Martin. What's your reference aircraft ? Meaning is there a specific aircraft that you are referencing?

Thanks Joe, No specific plane, but all the original pics I've found of these the paint jobs are very rough.. Each one was hand sprayed, and thin. So the edges etc wore off quick. Once it's weathered and has transfers it should (hopefully) look fairly accurate !!

Some great detailing on that interior Martin, and sometimes we need a change just to get some motivation.

Argghhh... Finally got Firefox/flickr etc loaded up again... Heres where the paint is so far, going for an old weathered look like most of these have. Been glossed, decaled, weathering and matted ! Decals were a pain, the yellow on the wing edge and the red outline behind them (to not walk on, as these planes were so thin!) were not included in the decal sheet. i had to go through my stash of decals and make em... Anyway its coming along so far, more soon an thanks for looking in !

Very interesting build and it is looking great so far. The interior has that "busy" look. I may be wrong, but didn't these Japanese fighters have a bright metallic blue/green interior?

Thanks guys ! Yes the inside framework etc on these is a bluey green metallic colour. But certainly the early ones, like this one, the cockpits was green. I've used this colour for a few parts, you'll see soon !

That's awesome Martin.
Once completed, you should have at least one picture done in black and white for the old newsreel look.
Carry on sir....

Finally finished up my Zero, and i must say i quite enjoyed it ! Just got in a rut of car builds, and this was a complete change of pace... Tried a few new paint techniques, bit of air brushing and weathering, a few p/e parts, apart from that its out the box stock, which Ive not tried for years ! ! So rest assured I`ll be back to my usual rediculously slammed and wild cars soon, hopefully i might even finish a few...
