Been itchin' to get this started since it arrived a while back. Always thought that this was one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Its only a curbside (Hasegawa) but what it lacks in detail it more than makes up for with good looks. So follow along gang!!! it will be fun!!! First installment will be interior Build/details. Gonna stray a bit from the plain black color this int is supposed to be. Stay tuned!!

Almost bought a basket case Jota about 10 yrs ago. It was missing the drive train and its complete electrical system. Not a single wire in the car anywhere!! LOL...Didn't have the hart to put a 69 Olds Toronado 455 and trans axle in it. The chassis mods would have been extensive so I passed on it. Umm...Its gonna be a shade of Gold Gil. Gonna keep it under my hat for a while...

Always thought that this was one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Couldn't agree more, I love the design ! Love how they incorporated the door shape, with both doors open it looks like a bull from the front with the horns ! Another build I'm interested to watch come together, I'll pull up a chair if there's room left !

Not much to show today. but I do have a tidbit of info for y'all. Tires...We sand em...We letter em...We decal em.We even paint em!! And it all works great unless they are rubber. I'm gonna show you my method for painting em with the finished rims in place. AND... no cracking of the paint when all is said and done. You know those window masks that come in the higher end kits like Aoshima and Tamiya. Don't toss that sheet when your done with the masks!!! Pull the remaining mask material off it and you will be left with a sheet of acetate or silicone coated paper. You can also get this paper from bumper stickers, speed parts manufacturers stickers like Holley or Edelbrock etc...This stuff is the bomb for parts you need to glue together and have lay flat while drying without em sticking to the work surface. Glue em together on the sheet (they wont stick to the shiny backing material) now for the tires...Start by cutting the sheet into 4 roughly 1 inch wide strips, long enough to cover the inside diameter of your tire. Roll the strip up so it overlaps itself and fits in the tire. (Cut the excess material off leaving a slight overlap before you slip it in the tire) Now, flare the paper on the back side of the tire so your rim fits in it snugly. Then carefully slip the paper and the rim through the tire, seating the rim in its final position, this stuff will slide in the tire without too much fuss pinching the paper between the rim and tire. You can now safely paint your sidewall with semi gloss or flat clear lacquer. Don't use acrylic clear on rubber tires, it likes to crack if you move the rim in the tire or squeeze the tire too tight for some reason. Tamiya clears seem to play nice with any tire material I have used it on. Now...After painting a sidewall, while the paint is still wet, Gently pull the paper out of the tire, don't worry it will slide out with a little effort. Set the tire aside and do the rest the same way. Once done, you will have uniform looking sidewall color and rims with no clear overspray on em. This will work with decaled tires too. Just do the decals after the paper/rims are in place... Sorry I didn't get any pics of the removal process. Kinda hard to do when your painting and pulling paper. Evolution is slow in bringing about the development of the third arm for holding the camera...LOL...Hope this helps someone out or gives you an idea of your own. Next installment should have a finished chassis and the beginning of the body work/corrections and such. Stay tuned gang!!! and thanks again for looking/commenting!
