When Paul hooked me up with this kit I already knew the direction I wanted to go with it. I just hope I can build it the way it looks in my mind!

Awesome choice Al - this "was" what I was thinking to build - BUT, I will snag something else. I am gonna need something EASY to build, as I will be one handed, LOL

This is my favorite pickup build. I've built 4 of them so far. Looking forward to what you do with yours.

Something tells me that this being a flip nose would be pure hell to get all lined up right.

Thanks for your votes of confidents guys! First order of business was to drop it a bit in the back. I was a bit nervous about sawing the frame in half so I pulled a used frame out of the stash that came from a MPC flip nose 57 Chevy (they share the same chassis and suspension!) Once I added a block and glued it back together the front needed a little lowering to get the body to sit level. I was able to cut the front springs off the chassis and reduce the height of the spring blocks. Here's a shot of the stock frame in the back with the modified frame in front.

Great start on that. You see, I'm learnin' here. I didn't know anything about the Z process. On my 56 I relocated the rear spring perches from the bottom of the frame to the top to achieve lowering the rear but this looks to be a tad easier and it's going to lower it even more. Continuing to watch............and learn.

Continuing to watch............and learn. We are all learning all the time! Z-ing a frame is the way most 1:1 rods are build now a days to get the body in the weeds! Then air bag suspensions to bring them up to a height where you can actually drive them. This one won't get air bags so I'm going to leave a little space under the cab but it will be lower than anything I've built before! I have it all mocked up on the bench and I think it'll turn out just the way I pictured it!

Here's a couple of early mock up pics. These probably won't be the rims and tires I use, and that radiator support is definatly history! I've decided to keep this Ford all Ford by replacing the bbc engine with a something from fomoco. The headers I want to use are from an old beer wagon kit that I plan to mount upside down to make them stick out the sides. This junk parts box 429 boss engine seems to have the heads tilted at just the right angle for the headers to work so that's what I'll use. The blower will have to go and I'm considering differant intakes and air cleaners. Right now I leaning towards a single 4bbl and a scoop, but thats subject to chage as I move forward. I wanted to keep the essense of the front end even though it will be absent so cut two sections out of the front grille bar to narrow it and placed it in front of the radiator support housing. I have since decided not to use that housing.

The interior is complete. First I used the thread & tape method for making a mexican blanket seat uphostery then I searched through the stash to find a unique shifter knob. I found a suitable shifter and decided to go with a ballpeen hammer head.
