Its amazing Joe. Looks real for cryin' out loud. Funny to think how sparse the cockpit was on the worlds first jet fighter though...

Looks killer, Joe. It is a good idea to detail the back of the instrument panel. If I remember correctly, it can be seen from the outside.

Thanks Mike, Pete, Leon and Gil! Pete: Aint that tha truth. Not much to 'em back then. Gil: Yeah there's some eye candy as viewed from the top of the windscreen on these. You've just gotta bring out all of those details in that area. Some progress on the gun platform. Got some more detailing and weathering to do in here but had to post a pic to let you guys know that I'm still progressing with this build. I'll be away from the bench as our family will be out of town for the next week on vacation so I felt that I needed to have some sorta progress goin' anyways. lol

Ya know what, I'm not a plane guy, but I'm finding this build fantastic to watch. The detailing and weathering thus far is top notch.

Got the ammo chutes painted, weathered and installed. Really added another level of detail to what was there. In real life the fact that the 30mm cannons was nasty enough and then you add the fact that the rounds were set to converge at 450 meters. Yeesh!!! Anyways...the completed weapon platform:

Good thing that monster came too late to turn the tide!!! Talk about the "business end" of a weapon. Nicely done Joe!!! Thanks Pete. Just to give you an idea of how big these rounds were that got shot through that Mk108.... It only took one or two hits to bring a B-17 down.

Just to show some progress at the bench. I've managed to get the fuselage halves joined together. I've just got the upper nose panels press fitted into place during the whole body work/ painting process. Sanding and filling are at a premium here..... One thing I do NOT miss about aircraft modeling is seam filling in small areas. The seam line going down the middle of the bird was interrupted by these small panels in front of the windscreen soooooooooooo.....gotta take care of the seam lines on the panels themselves. I'll be using my tried and true super glue filling method on these and then I'll rescribe the panel lines.

Thanks Dennis! Some more progress. In the last week it's been mostly build up and getting things ready for the painting stage of the build. Looks like the wing/ fuselage fit is gonna be pretty good on this one. Good ol' Tamiya kits....just can't beat 'em.

Thank you guys for the comments. I've had my hands full of other things to include benchtime over the course of the last month but will be posting some progress on this one hopefully soon. I've made some good strides towards the painting process but nothing worthy of pictures as it's ALOT of hidden details and proper fitting of the wing/ fuselage join areas. Pretty tedious with the fitting of the landing gear panels so as not to get overspray in that landing gear bay but I hope to have some primer on the whole bird by this weekend.

I hear ya Joe. I finally made some progress on my current project after a week of "Aint' enough time in the day" LOL! Progress I've been making. It's my appearance on here that has been lacking and am trying to take care of that now that I've got my head on a little straighter in the last week or so. Just waiting my boss' retirement out. Got 'er black based this morning. Gonna black base the elevators and install them next.
