I'm going to give this a rebuild. Its in desperate need of it as I left my window open one night when it was recently finished and a snail ate the paint of the door, then when my windows were replaced the builder dropped something on top of it and a lot of it came apart. I have a set of scenes unlimited dually fenders i will use and if i cant find any off road tyres in the size i want i'll use some big rig wheels and tyres. The stance will be a bit taller than this and I'll be adding lots more lights. The brush guard and bumpers will be getting some more features added to them (currently they are the stock upgrade kit from meng). While its apart I'll fix the side window issue these kits have (the side glass is too deep to fit well) I'm just going to have fun with it and let my imination run wild

Plenty of scope with this one. To give you some idea of my life at the minute, the snail ate the paint isn't the strangest thing I've heard lately!

So the work has started. I started by disassembling the rest of the kit that the window guy didn't do for me (not even an appology) Then it was a quick mock up to see how much it has to be lifted which is about a scale foot or just over half the tyre height. first mock up with the majority of the parts next up I painted the wheels and made a start on the chassis mods. the white bit under the cab will be mounts for the lift. I cut 4 of these parts and glued them together to make sure they are all the same. I drilled the mounts for the axle braces while they were glued together. Next up I removed the centre cab mount as it was in the way and i'm sure 4 witll be plenty. when i glued them to the chassis i put sticks from some cotton buds through the holes to keep everything square I think I'm going to enjoy this one more than i expected

If I'd checked when i ordered the tyres it would be a fair bit taller. I intended to order the earthmover tyres but somehow ordered the smaller size. Hmm? I have an international payhauler so I might have a play with its tyres if i can be bothered to pull it from the bottom of the pile

Ok so the payhauler wheels just wont work for this without a lot of chopping and changing so I'm sticking with these but will be adding some wear later in the build. I dont look like i've done much today but the research (read searching for pics online) took longer than expected as there were a few different setups. I'm going for the big lift so have decided on 4 bar mounting front and rear with some scratchbuilt heavy duty shocks with 2 for each wheel, and some sort of brace to stop side to side movement. The rod at the rear are made from plastruct coated wire but I've not got enough for the front. I have some thinner versions of the same stuff so will use it inside some evergreen tube to keep the diametre the same front and rear. I'll be building the shocks tomorrow so I can then make the second set of bars as the shocks will be needed to support the truck. I also added the start of the bracing to the rear axle and widened it at the same time using a set of left over big rig wheel mounts as the wheels didn't fit before. I'm glad this is an appocalyptical build as there is no way the wheels will be covered by the arches. I've also raised it up so its now lifted a scale 2 feet, the top of the tyre is where the bottom of the stock tyres fitted I bought a selection of matt and satin black paints today in a mix of enamel and acrylic and will be experimenting with the reaction between them to try and get a flaking scorched paint look.

Made some progress on the shocks, still have to decide the mounts and 2 of them need to be redone as i managed to make them shorter than the rest .

Found some extras to add, my first 3d printed parts too. The barrels are decent and the jerry cans but the sand ladders are a little flatter than i was expecting. Most of these parts will probably go on some sort of roof rack as I have something else to build for the bed. I think I might try and make the sand ladders double as removable steps

Still waiting on more plastic coated wire to arrive, the thinner stuff I have isn't strong enough and due to covid(less flights) its still stuck in holland.
