I'm sure we all have a few projects that have been allowed to languish for months/years, for whatever reason. Heres one of mine. Its' been in the box since 1999. Got the notion to finish it up and add it to my Funny car Ensamble. So... c'mon! Show us your languishing/forgotten projects... It might motivate you to do something with em!!!

Ah man, about half of mine end up back in the box usually for 2 reasons. The first is the motm entries that havent been finished in time, and the second is something about it annoys me. I've got a chopped and sectioned 48 woody with the side panels from the coupe custom kit thats been in the box since one pillar broke during assembly and i think all it needs is paint and assembly, There's a euro MAN truck and trailer that got the chassis for the cab and trailer pretty far on before I realised i have nowhere to store it so the trailer parts have been floating about my work area for near 2 years, a fully custom 37 lincoln(ish) built from a 41 willys, 40 ford coupe and chrysler concept, The escort I'm building now has been painted for a long time but never got any further(my gran died so other things took priority then) a honda cb750 bike that just needs me to find the earlier style decals so i can finally finish it, a mk1 golf race car that i painted and decided i heted the colours I chose, a mk2 golf i ended up using lots of parts from on something else, a mk3 golf wagon that just needs a rear parts made for inside the trunk and assembly, a mk3 golf van that got paused when i worked every night for 6 weeks on the new boat so i couldn't do anything with it at work and i'm sure theres loads more. I'll have to get the pics tomorrow cos the boat internet isn't very fast. Pretty much half my builds end up back in the box but I'm going to call them paused rather than abandoned. Maybe we shouuld start an unfinished projects build off since I'm sure we all have them, something like a trade projects between members for someone else to finish them off. It could make for some interesting builds since we all have differing styles

I've got a couple of these laying around. My Maverick is NOT on that list though thankfully. Just need small distractions every once in a while to keep the mojo goin'.
Dude.....you have GOT to finish this car Pete!!!!!

I hear ya Les...This funny ended up back in the box due to my not being satisfied with the paint/decals. I think I have roughly a dozen projects in work for pretty much the same reasons as you. A build off would be fun though!!! Hmm Boats...Did my share of that in the Navy!!! What do you do for a living? If you don't mind me asking.

Hey Joe!! Yeah, that's why its out of purgatory. Recently acquired another and will re-do the body/paint and decals. Then use the chassis and such for another build I have been meaning to get going. I hear ya on the Mav. I have a cammer mustang for the Ford Drag Team that's been on the back burner but not forgotten.

I'm nightwatchman on the companies old ferry just now, but previously I was the cleaner/watchman. I work week on, week off and its the easiest job in the world. I get paid to sit on my keister for 12 hours so since its not the new one i take a model with me to putter about with. The way I look at it is I'm doing the same thing i'd be doing at home, i just have to travell there each day. If anything goes wrong I only have to call the bosses and hey send someone to fix it but i have learnt to do some of the stuff that goes wrong like the boiler and fire alarms (its being refitted) Its like being paid to build models, lol. The new ferry got an award for being the most enviromentaly friendly ferry in the uk at the start of the year. They're a good company to work for too, the owner is the type that mucks in and does the dirty jobs along with us and he built the company up from nothing. Our competitor gets everything paid for by the government so they can run their boat empty and still make millions while we get no help whatsoever but it means we can wait if trucks are late. Both ferries are catermarans too so they are a much smoother sail than the others. Its nice to work for a family firm I think.

Sounds like a sweet job indeed. Did my share of watchman/guard duty here in various buildings for a local real estate developer. I have done some of my best work on models while at work...LOL...Same as you, had to field emergency calls and such. Lost that gig with the whole Covid 19 fiasco...Probably going to go back into the automotive field here soon though. Summers almost over, time to get back to work. Its good your company owner is a regular guy with dirt under his nails. Their usually the best to work for. That other ferry outfit...Politician had to do somebody a favor...That's why they can run empty and still get paid.

Yeah serco aint't a great company, i worked for one of their subsiduaries and they sacked me when i asked for my wages, then complained i wasn't going to work (cleaning a bank, they gave me keys and never asked for them back so i gave them to the bank and caused a bit of fuss, lol) I eventually got paid 3 months after i left cos i was posting warnings about them on all their job vacancies and posting on their twitter about not getting paid. My view was i have nothing to lose if they sued me, and i had eveidence of it all. They even lost my original birth certificate so now I have to use a photocopy.

Nah...They didn't lose it, just aint gonna give it back to you. The outfit I was doing guard duty for, didn't have any respect for their employees. Bit of a blessing in disguise that they let me go. Pay was bottom of the scale too for an armed guard. I did make a little progress on the funny tonight. Nothing ground breaking, just a few bits rounded up for it, a little weathering on the slicks. Gonna start on the new body for it this week though...

This is the build that's languished the longest. No where near as long as yours but I think its 4 years. It's going to be a radial tire racer.
I had issues with the chassis but I think I figured it out but now I have to fit it in the schedule.

Scratched this up for the funny car...Hydraulic throttle pedal. Given the confines of funny car/dragster chassis it was easier to run a hyd hose than mechanical linkage. Just have to add the hyd line once its installed.
