I'm glad you got rid of the tin lid - it just didn't look right. I'm not saying a T-top like the one on a Corvette C3 wouldn't work, but I like your idea of the wrap-around even better; oddly enough, I recall fitting one to an Frog (AMT) C3 back when I was still at school!
Can you get some low-profile or stretched tyres for those rims? You won't be able to reduce the overall diameter too much or they'll look odd in those nice flared arches even if you drop the suspension. Perhaps a modern large-diameter wheel with low-profile rubber might be the answer? While the overall diameter might be nearly as large some of the openwork spoke styles might have a "lighter" look to them, its just you'll then need the (disc) brake detail to go behind them. I'd been thinking of something similar for the AMT Silhouette show car, which actually has a low wrap-around screen in the box as an alternative to the bubble top.
Regards,
M
O.K., on further thought, maybe not a T-top but a low fared-in roll bar for your wrap-around screen to butt-up to? With sloped buttresses to the rear to give a tunneled effect? Or perhaps a long sloped buttress on the drivers side only (to preserve the asymmetry) but matched with a roughly central divider with the same profile which you could then put a top on to make a sort of combo roll bar and headrest fairing? It might be worth a bit of thin cardboard to see how it looks with a potential to be used as a template if it works for you...

The low fairing style windscreen is a go...Just working out the shapes for it all. It was your Idea in the first place M...Gonna keep it simple just so I can get it done. The wheels/tires will probably stay...May entertain the roll bar concept though. Thanks!!! M...You are a task master sir...LOL...Its all good though. Hmm, maybe Ill just send it to you and you can finish it.

Sadly, that would be a guaranteed way to turn it into a "languishing project"... "Da Brane" keeps supplying me with ever more outrageous ideas while removing my capacity to realise them.

Roughed out the windscreen. Have two different treatments for the side glass. One is a straight taper from front to back (Drivers side) The other is a gradual arc from front to back. What do you guys think?? Probably gonna cut the windshield height down a bit too.

I hear yah M!! My mind does that idea thing too...Makes it difficult to finish a project sometimes. Even harder to start one...

The straight side glass flow better with the screen, but the curved version looks better. Maybe slightly less curve/slightly taller on the corners of the screen would help it flow better too. Hows that for a non answer, lol

My vote is for the curved version, it echos the lines of the front wings.
I still think the Wheel & Tyre combination looks too chunky now the body is so light and refined, more wheel and less tyre should look better; there are many styles available but I was thinking of something like this:

Not too fond of the Beemers...The Hollies though... More in line with the genre. THANKS M...Now I'm on another tangent with this nightmare...LOL... I do like the curved side glass also. Gotta drop the windscreen height too... I do have a side treatment that will even out the proportions. Take some of the weight away from the tires profile... Always another tangent to keep me from finishing this thing LOL...

I wasn't pushing the Beemers, just using them to illustrate what I thought was a better rubber-to-metal ratio than what it has been wearing up to now. I'm sure whatever you prefer will look right - unless they are Center-Line-style solids, Ronal Teddy Bears or Daisies, or these:

M

ROFLMAO...No I think we can say no to those. I am thinking about several different wheel/low pro tire ideas though...Its all good M! Kinda like the AR Daisy wheels... Time to go do some...

Just got caught up with this one.
I concur with losing the roof, the glass treatment, and the other mods heretofore accomplished.
The kit looks like a "challenge", that is to say the only way this thing is going to be cool
is to do what you have done to it. OOB is a joke.
You are really on to something. Looking very cool so far.
Carry on sir....

Thanks Mark! To say this kit is a challenge would be an understatement. Waiting for some stuff to come in the mail before I move any further on it though. Hence the funny car build to kill some time.

I'm a bit slow getting back to the party, but I really like the revised Wheel & Tyre combo; I hope you go with those or something like them.
Cheers,
M

I'm having to catch up on the weekends now due to alot going on at work but must say that I do like what I'm seeing here. I really like the newer wheel / tire combo from the RX-8. Fits the body lines way better.

I hear ya on the free time Joe...This is sort of on the back burner for the moment, but not off the bench! Glad you like what you see man! Gotta make a decision about the wheels/engine for this thing before I can move forward with it. I may just go with the RX 8 wheels...
