Though I'm trying to finish up some old builds I still have to have a little fun.
I bought this kit w/o a box, and with pieces missing so I'm using parts I had for other planned builds that haven't happened. I don't plan to have a whole lot of detail but just a decent build. I'm building it as a Fairlane 500 instead of a Thunderbolt. I hope you (we) enjoy it.

Hey Gang, I mocked up the Fairlane and the stance is up a tad higher in the front and I'm okay with that. I left the rear unchanged so that is the kit height in the rear.
The engine is almost done. I just have to wire it and add the injector pump. It won't have a water pump so the injector pump will be in the center. A couple of the injector stacks were broken so I cut them off and added some I had from Ted's but I wish I'd left them longer as they barely breach the hood.
My original mockup had them sticking out a bit more. I may just add a scoop. I'll also have to fab some headers, which should be fun. Not sure how those will exit, as it looks really tight in there even with the fenderwells cut out. Thanks for looking and commenting.

That stance is perfect! Great wheel choice too. Thanks guys! I painted the front wheels yesterday. They came from the Chezoom Corvair kit and look a lot better with aluminum paint than the chrome did.

Hey Gang, sorry I haven't posted any updates. I'm doing things in parallel so I haven't had anything really to show. Here are some mockups with the body painted. I'll probably go without a hood because I damaged it trying to increase the hole size. I just painted the interior and I'll probably put it in the dehydrator tomorrow. I don't have the trust level to leave it on overnight. That's just me being me. I still have to polish the paint but it came out fairly smooth for rattle can. I tried to blow it through my AB but it looked like it was moisture in the line and I didn't want to wait. I also still have to fabricate the headers. More fun!! Thanks for looking and commenting.

Stance is cool, spot on ! I've built headers before, use solder wire it's so soft it makes the job a lot easier !!

Looks great. I dig that colour on it. Thanks Bruce, I was trying to mimic Ford Phoenician Yellow, which was a color for that year. It's Ace Hardware Navajo White enamel.

That is a very impressive build Dennis, and that engine is seriously tough!

Well, going will be slower for a while. I tweaked my back doing absolutely nothing! I fell asleep in the recliner and woke up in pain Thursday night. Yesterday I got up and could barely walk and was useless most of the day. Had to sleep last night sitting up with a lot of help from various pillows. Pain meds were useless. An ice pack has helped so I can function a bit today but a five-year-old could probably extort candy from me using the threat of violence.
All that said, I'm posting where I am on the interior.
I removed the rear seats, and went with an aluminum look. I drilled out the gauges and put a styrene panel covered with BMF to simulate aluminum blanks (see the second pic). The tach is aluminum tubing with aluminum rod inside to hold the decal. I used small aluminum tube for the steering column to mimic what you'd find on a dedicated race car. I used BMF on the glove box to represent aluminum sheet replacing the glove box door. I also added a PE gauge cluster (I love those), and a fabricated switch panel where the ash tray used to be. The shifter is fabricated from styrene strip, and parts from a four speed shifter. The roll bar isn't glued in as I have to fabricate support bars and paint the fire extinguisher. This is really turning out to be a fun build.

Calling this one done. It was supposedly only a quickie build but I did a bit more but decided to wrap it up so I could start on my longer term project.
