I've owned 3 of these and I love them to death. Only problem as a modeler is there really is very little to choose from with regard to kits. The 63 would work fine, but its OOP and quite spendy when you and find one. The 65 is an altered, and although I want that one, it doesn't meet the criteria here. There is a resin 63 that needs parts, not too bad, but still getting a bit pricey to put together. So, what's a guy to do? Think crazy and outside the box I said, it will be easy I said. So, after diggin' around for a bit I found a die-cast 1/25 64 Nova ss on the cheap from China. Well, I hoped the body would be good and from there we will wing it. As it turns out the body is quite good, the rest is garbage. Since the 66 is the same platform I opted to use the 66 pro street kit as a donar to put this 64 together. I knew full well there would be some serious and unforeseen challenges, but thats modeling. Right? The glass is very good and the body is quite nice and something I can work with. I just need to put it all together and make it look right. So, here goes. I have no idea how long this will take and I am currently working on 4 other kits and I have commitments for 11 more GB's this year. And anything else the insists I build it. So, let's get into it. So this is what I started with. I am finishing up the chassis work and will post up some pics when that is further along, next few days. And then on to interior etc. etc. Till then, thanks for stopping by.

Hey guys. I've made some, mind you, some progress on the Nova. I have the chassis fit and about 85% complete. I still need to rework the rear tubs mostly. I had to lengthen the chassis by about 1/4 inch to fit the car and then I narrowed the tubs from prostreet to more of a mini-tub setup, but I'm not happy with the tubs as is and I will line them and fill the area to the quarter panels more. It's tough to work with this chassis as there is NO flex in the car to allow its installation, so you have to make things really fit tight. The width of the chassis fits the car perfectly. I also had to remove the core support to push the front wheels far enough forward to fit correctly, but it fits super nice now. The diecast core support actually is located in the right spot so I'll open it up to add the radiator later. I'll update as I make more progress. Thanks for looking.

This is looking bad (Word Censored By Forum Administrator)!!!! I do love those AMT Nova chassis'. Adaptable to so many other cars than the OOB Nova. As was said above, looks like it was a match made in heaven for the body you're using.

I found a guy on Evilbay selling the chassis parts I've used on this kit, so I restocked the 66 kit and bought a 572 resin motor for it. I'm thinking a front tube chassis with that motor and a rack and pinion steering. I also acquired an outlaw resin hood and promod wing for the 66. I'm really starting to get ideas on that one also. I picked up a chassis from a 69 nova for the fuel tank on the 64, the axle is a 12 bolt and will work well also. I'll post up some work in a few days.

Well, I'm finally done with the GB's I have time to complete. I am back on this one for a good stretch. I have a new resin LS engine for it with a 6 speed. Now I have to make that fit and try and complete the drive train. Just taking some quick fits I think I will have to raise the trans tunnel and lower the engine slightly. Headers won't work as is, but I will have to get creative on that. BK

Ya, it's from Ebay, I forget who I got it from. I bought that just before I put it aside. Been looking over the fit and I have to redo the whole front to make that work. I'm gonna change everything firewall forward to a Camaro frame and suspension. That will give me the room to make everything work far better. Chevy II front ends are kinda trash anyway. Having owned 3 I have learned to just hate how GM did them.

I thought I'd give you guys another update. I've been grinding, sanding and filing my fingers off. I have managed to get all the upper fender trim and side trim removed and filed down. I have also worked over the fit of the doors to the body and I have some fine work to do there, but the gaps are much closer than they started out. I have made new hinges and fit the mounts to the body so they will continue to function. The door handles and mirror has also been removed. I will have to locate handles and a mirror on another kit like a Camero; we will see. The hood has received a great deal of attention and I have roughed out the cowl induction portion. I have some fine tuning left to do, but for the most part it is where I need it for now. The paint on this car is rediculous. I have scraped and sanded for days to removed most of it. It is very thick and does not wish to come off. I have at least 40 hours of sanding and filing on this body. It is mostly where I want it, but some work remains. I finally decided on a scheme for this as well. It will resemble one I owned many years ago. My favorite car I ever owned. I will build this as if I still owned and what I would want to do to bring it up to modern standards, but with some old school looks. More to come BK
