As a kid I learned to build models from my dad. He was mostly military stuff. I wanted cars and Bikes, he always helped me go in the right direction as a lot of what I wanted to build did not exist, so it was down to scratch built most of the time. Balsa wood bodies shaped, sealed and painted. That was a long time ago.
I got away from building models when I was old enough to get a bike on the road.
Long story short: In 2000 decided I would get back into the hobby one way or another. Started with Die-cast, I know not modeling. LOL! But they were not correct so I proceeded to modify them. Then decided plastic kits would probably be better.....and found many needed modifying. I taught myself how to make molds and cast in resin, make my own decals and started a website www.macsmodeling.com to share what I was doing and learning. One thing led to another and soon the website ended up as a store. I then created a business making detail parts on the side, Arizona Racing Models, that's where I have my most fun.
I don't tout my business on forums, but I'm here to help if I can.
I don't get to build much lately, just make special parts. I do have some scratch builds on the go but they will take me a long time to finish. As my eyesight gets worse the scale gets bigger. Gone from 1:43 up to 1:12.........now looking towards 1:6, Man! so much detail can go into a 1:6.
One of the members here, Mark, made some nice comments about me and I felt I should introduce myself.
I won't be here every day but I will stop by from time to time and see what you are all doing with interest.
Cheers,
Mac
