Great job on the chassis Joe. Love those headers too. 'Preciate the good word Mike. I may be getting a little more time on this one than I'm used to. Wife tested positive this morning and although my son tested negative....he still has all the Covid symptoms. I'm the only one NOT showing any at the moment. Hopefully it'll stay that way so I can take care of them both......and get a little modeling done while I'm at it.

Good grief!! Get the kid re-tested, may have thrown a false negative on test. Hope it all pans out well for all of you Joe. Daughter in law is a nurse in a hospital. Wife has had several in her office test positive. So far we have all managed to dodge that bullet!! Stay safe man!!

Thanks you guys for the words of encouragement. We all made it ok through this stuff and now it's time to recover financially and get our asses back to work. My work did pay me at a reduced rate for the time I was forced off so I've been able to pay bills which was a true blessing. Now....back on to the Maverick: Well gang. Over the course of the last week I've been at it again as far as engineering goes. I chucked up several of these pins that I have in the drill and ground the ends against a file to reduce the diameter of the pin heads. Then I cut all of them down to the same length (looks like they still need shortened just a tad more though) And here they are test fitted into place. Just gotta paint them semi gloss black and they'll be good to go and prepped for the wire install. (Part of what's been stalling this is waiting on the correct color of ignition wires to arrive in the mail which happened yesterday so forward we go) ...

I'm really struggling to get this complete this month so I can enter it in this months LMS contest. If I find myself rushing to meet the deadline then I'll just back off and concentrate on a good finish.

Glad you came through the covid thing in one piece Joe. I still haven't found a job. Our Governor is doing his best to cripple weastern N.Y. economically. That's a cool concept...Gonna glue the wires to the pin heads??

That's a cool concept...Gonna glue the wires to the pin heads?? Thanks Pete. Sorry bout the job deal bro. Praying for you on that one buddy. As far as the wires go...that's the idea. I had some red spark plug wire from Lex's Scale Modeling but that turned out to be the size of battery cables in scale so I'm going with a more correct diameter of wire in orange. Slight color difference will be offset by the correct size wire. Been forming all of the wires up and getting things like the distributor cap retainers and all that stuff put on the distributor this week. Hope to have an update soon.

Master of detail for sure mate. Thanks Dale. lol Managed to get all the ignition wires formed and installed over the last couple of days. This is NOT what I was opting for because these wires should be red but the "spark plug wire" that I got sent was the scale size of a battery cable so I went for orange.

Thanks Leon, Pete and Dale!! Gonna weather the wires some and may add a detail or two to the distributor. Meant to do it before I added the R/H bank of wires but we'll see what I can do.

stunning engine work mate Thanks Les! I just didn't like how the "magneto" on the engine looked and it wasn't "correct" for the build so I removed it and went with a regular coil. I also dirtied up the ignition wires as well. Before: After:

Yup, much better. That ignition box is an artifact from the funny car kits. LOL!!! Funny how much stuff gets left "in" kits as leftovers. Thanks Pete....and congratulations for that win with the Cobra at FSM. Fantastic build bud.

Its even funnier how much disappears over the yrs as kits age...Thanks Joe, I was surprised actually! Considering how many entries there were in the category.

Alright gang.....update time. Been working on the fuel induction the whole week. I started out with the intake runners and plenum. Shot with the unpainted carburetors from Futureattraction: Then I shot a coat of Tamiya X-31 Titanium Gold on 'em, filled in the throttle bores with some flat black and assembled them Then came a dark brown acrylic wash, allowed to dry and followed up with a dry brushing of ground up black pastel to flatten it all out and add some "age" to them. I took a comparative pic of both carbs. One on the left is with the wash and pastel treatment and the one on the right is without it. And with both carburetors painted and "weathered". Now.....it's time to add the details.

All business, no fluff, looks mean & nasty...Love it!! Thanks Pete! Throttle linkage is around 90% complete. Still gotta put the lever from the firewall, throttle quadrant and the lever up to the carb linkage.
