Hello all, I am back on this one after I had to shift gears during the MOTM build and was not able to complete it for the deadline. Off we go... Here is the kit. And here is what's in it. Here are the colors to be used. Tamiya X-31 Titanium Gold and Tamiya XF-55 Deck Tan. I am trying to replicate the factory color "Sandalwood Tan".

The chassis and other bits have been done in Tamiya X-18 semi gloss black. This is my go to for undercarriage color. It is a dead ringer for the Krylon semi gloss I used to use on my real cars many moons ago. More bits and bobs painted. The body was painted over a base of Tamiya grey fine surface primer. After a lot of masking I got the interior bits painted. I think that it is coming along nicely. The issue is that the gold is gloss and the tan is dead flat. I plan to deal with this by going over everything with a coat of Humbrol Satin Cote. I am hoping that it will even everything out so the colors will play nicely together. That is all so far. I will start gluing things tomorrow. By the way, the pin vise you see is the Tamiya 74112. This tool is well balanced and buttery smooth. The handle holds (2) two sided collets. It is IMO the Cadillac of pin vises. So much better than the others I have used. It is not even funny. Thanks for looking. Studio soundtrack: Snarky Puppy -We like it here.

Some progress: Feels good to say that. Here are the seats before and after. Wet coat. And here are some parts after 15 minutes or so. I think they evened out ok. The trick is to brush on enough for the satin cote to self level, but not pool or run. It's a work in progress. I am glad to be back at the bench again. Thanks for looking.

Some progress: Worked on the door panels. Then my steady hand went out the window for the console. sSig_DOH Taking a tip from Mike (Sharp), I went over the kit chrome with some Humbrol Satin cote. The two on the right are untouched. I can actually see a difference. I think it turned out OK. Thanks Mike. Working on the dash now. Pics tomorrow. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Deano and Les. Some progress: Here is the interior tub. I think it turned out pretty good. Here is the dash. I should have masked off the top half and air brushed the black. The brush method did not go as evenly as I had hoped. Live and learn. The completed interior. I'd say there is more right about it than wrong, so it is within acceptable tolerances.

The engine is coming along. I got the holes drilled for the plug wires, which was interesting. Testors acrylic orange. Testors 1180 flat steel for the cast iron manifolds. Tamiya XF-16 flat aluminum for the bell housing and XF-16 over a black base for the transmission case. Thanks Joe. That method gives it just enough of a change of tone to look a bit more realistic. I used the Tamiya X-31 Titanium gold for the carburetor and the fuel pump. The oil fill tube flung itself to places unknown. I will have to replicate one from a bit of sprue. Here are the completed wheels. Turned out OK. I did my best to cut those around those tiny decals before application. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Deano. Some progress: I got the chassis done. I always keep you guys up to date with any interesting gadgets I buy and try, so here is what I used tonight. I told Joe that on my next build I would run the plug wires so I used an upholstery T pin as a center punch to get the ridiculously tiny drill bits started. I promptly broke the #80 and #79, but I got the hang of it with the #78. The Tamiya pin vise is head and shoulders above the Excel and the other one I had. It really is a quality piece. Look at the size of that bit. Crazy small.

The oil fill tube was hiding in plain sight. I found it tonight on the carpet. I had looked there several times before, but I guess it wanted to be found tonight. Got that promply installed. Once that was done, I decided to try the Detail Master ignition wire. Good grief this stuff is tiny. Fingers crossed. This sure is a fiddly job. I like how on the package it says "Skill level-Average". It should say "Patience level-Above Average". That emoji is my trying to hold my mouth right. Also in this picture is the V2 Glue Looper. More on that in a moment. Detail Master recommends using this product from which to make spark plug wire boots. It is tiny multi stranded wire just a bit larger than the above product. I had to strip the insulation and I will run the plug wire through it. Here are the boots. I use the tart baking dish as a tray, and as a decal "lake". Works great. Looks classy too. I hope this works out like I envision it. Fingers crossed.

I saw a video on the Glue Looper. It looked interesting. I have to say that it is pretty cool. I was able to put a tiny bit of super glue (Super thin Insta Cure from BSI) into the distributor cap and only into the hole I wanted. I was able to do one wire at a time without glue going everywhere, or having blobs and globs to contend with. I will for sure be doing more work with this tool. Here are the results. I must say that for my first attempt at this labor operation I am quite pleased. Now I must try to get the "lay" of the wires just right. I know that Joe and Dale will be grading me. I am doing my best. Hope you are enjoying my progress. Thanks for looking.

Nice work Mark, Engine is looking great. I highly recommend using a toothpick for getting the "lay" on ignition leads to look realistic. If you gently push the toothpick down on the leads from the top, they will bend to the shape/lay you want. (if that makes sense)It works pretty well.

Thanks Bruce for the tip. That engine looks great! I hope I can get mine to look as good as that. Some progress: Got the body taped off to shoot the engine compartment. Engine bay painted. Working on the glass to smooth the edges and trying to polish it so it can be super clear.
