Did some research.
Highway Patrol used a 55 Buick Century.

Your right Mark with the 55 Buick. We get the TV show here on cable at 5AM. Checked out Broderick Crawford on Wikipedia,found out that he's buried about 20 miles away. It also talks about his liquid lunches and that's why most of his driving scene's were on dirt roads. He had a suspended licence. All pretty amusing to watch now a days.
