Ok gang. I'll be switching back to aircraft for one build after the 454 SS Silverado that I'm building but after that I've been wanting to build something a little outside of the box (quite literally). Something other than a Camaro or Mustang or anything that's typical in a muscle car. I wanted to go with something that is considered "bland" by the mainstream and jazz it up.
I first became inspired by this car 3 years ago while in San Antonio visiting my wife in the hospital. I needed something to read while she was resting so I had picked up a copy of that months Super Chevy and lo and behold there she was.....a car that I felt that I MUST build. So.....I picked up a resin kit and have continually been picking up things that will help me to recreate this masterpiece of a car.
This will a be my first stab at a resin kit. I'll be going with this new aquisition...…...a 1980 Chevrolet Malibu from Star Models:
I'll have to replace the suspension to give this car a pro street look but I've already got that covered with the chassis from this kit that I acquired last week: (my "go-to" kit for all Pro Street needs)
and some Weld Alumastar wheels that I just picked up from Ted's Modeling : (and I've already had my machine shop here at work cut the width down on the rear wheels to something that'll handle the tires that I'll be using)
to give it a look like Brandons car:
and the real reason I wanted to build this thing............the engine. There'll be lots of Molotow and Alclad II going through my airbrush is all I've gotta say.

Thanks fellas. Going to be gathering parts for this one while I finish up my Arado 234 Blitz bomber so we're still looking at a couple of months off yet. I've got some ideas in mind already though

This should be very cool. Back in high school, the mother of a friend had the wagon version of this car, and we used to imagine it in pro street form.
Good looking car. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Can't wait to see what you do with it. I like the wagons as well. I actually ordered a wagon kit from Perry's resin. I will NOT do that again. Took my dang money and never sent me the car. Friggin' jackass.

Had to take a break from the Arado. Did some mods to the frame and was able to drop it a little more. Here she is mocked up with a set of Draglites. I might have another scale inch to go in the front but I've gotta find a way to modify the front suspension a little. The front wheel is right on centerline with where the spindle will be at this point. I've been working on getting the frame to sit square in the body which has been a lot of work but I'm almost there after a lot of shaving and some mild cutting. I also cleaned up the resin body...………….ALOT!!

Just to show what I'm doing here. This is the chassis from AMT's 66 Nova Pro Street car. With a little elbow grease...…………..and a whole lotta sanding/ trimming it fits like a glove. It's like it was made for this car. I'll be able to use the complete AMT suspension under here.
Another bonus is that I think I'm going to be able to use the entire 66 Nova interior with this as well.
Every thing in the engine compartment looks like it's gonna play well with the rest of the car. I'll be able to use the 80 Malibu resin firewall here as well. Also seen in this photo is how well the interior is going to work with this car.

Thanks Jay, Bruce and Mike.
Mike: So far I'm really liking how it's all going together but I may have a little problem with the way the headlights fit. May have to contact Steve to see if there's anything that he can do for me.
