Love the old LTL Louisvilles. I say weather for all you are worth just don't rust up a fibreglass bonnet, stonechips, paint fade and cracking are all the norm. Haven't built my tow body like that yet but intend putting it on a V8 Mack Valueliner. I use the braided/twisted wire for hanging picture frames for the tow cable. It can be hard to get to 'sit' nicely but does weather up a treat without the fibres that cotton etc give. Keen to see more, Welcome to the dark side my friend! nerwth_bf-devilsmiley

Neat, personally I like your weathered stuff, adds that much more realism especially since its a truck that is working in bad weather more than sunshine

I've seen many a "Crashed UFO" diorama, but I can't recall one with the UFO in a roadside ditch with a wrecker parked next to it, and a small "Roswell Grey" style alien signing the paperwork for the driver...

You obviously frequent some very average model sites if they bag the crap out of your build style Ken, it takes all styles in this hobby, and if they don't like it... STUFF 'EM !!!
Looks like another interesting project mate.

Looks like another interesting project mate. Agreed. Keep doing what you do Ken. I dig it all. I used to drive a dump truck when we were digging swimming pools. We never washed the truck. It got dirty and stayed dirty till it rained. I think you're doing a fine job.

Go for it, with my blessing. Given my lack of building and a strange brain, I have weird ideas I'll never make use of myself so I tend to throw them out on various fora if there's an excuse in the hope somebody more talented than myself might like them; it's probably the only way I'll see them "made flesh"...
Scratch building a UFO should be easy for anyone capable of customising a car. It was even easier when they had plastic coffee stirrers rather than environmentally friendly wooden ones, they could look good as surface detail on sci-fi builds! In my youth my car builds were almost inevitably the customised version so I ended up with quite a few stock wheel covers, some of these ended up as hatches/engine faces/nacelle caps on spacecraft...

M
