I've seen that Fire Engine built somewhere else but I can't think of where. All I remember is that there were LOTS of parts & detail and it turned out fantastic.

the fire truck was an impulse buy, just too cheap to say no to. Not sure what use all the ladders will be to me once i cut it up though the quattro i bought for my vw stash and while i already have the rally car, it seemed daft to not get the road car too and finally for now, the ghia is one of the kits I've been searching for at least 2 years and one popped up. Just need the gunze version now

Wow, does the Spitfire come with the Rolls-Royce motor? The engine would make a really cool Hot-Rod or Rat-Rod build addition!!

Another week , another couple boxes of stuff. The vw bus was an impulse buy from my local record shop. They've had a lot of airfix army kits for a few years now, but never anything in 1/24 or 25. I was in looking for thinners and happened to glance down and saw the vw. I'll be going back on friday to get the cobra that was left and to get thinners cos i forgot them, lol. I also got a couple of resin bodies for british cars but both will need a lot of work, but they were cheap enough and a good starting point rover p4 ford cortina mk1 I also found another of the vw kits I've been looking for and a chevy pick up because i like crew cabs

The tina body need a lot of work and is pretty thick so its going to be curbside, besides that the scooby chassis is too wide and way too long for the tina, but it would fit a razor edge ghia and i know where to get one of them thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon

I had a look at the online instructions for the 442, looks like the box top is the show car version fitted with alternative hood, spoiler, rear bumper, nose cap, arch flares and body side mouldings. The fact the nose caps are separate should give you a lot of scope for doing your own thing up front. I picked up the Phantom van decades ago when it was the "Vantom", it was nice then and with better tyres and alternative smoked custom transparencies the new release should be even better.

Another arrival (pic from internet) this time its a resin subaru engine and the detail is outstanding, easily the most detailed engine I've had so far and much better than the pic and I have also now got an airbrush set up but I haven't had the chance to play with it yet. Its one of the cheaper sets with a gravity feed and suction feed airbrush included. The compressor has a tank and seems fairly quiet when its running

Well after being on such a spending spree the last wee while I've near run out of space. Since I'm getting new windows fitted sometime in the near future and will have to pack everything up anyway I'll be doing it this month. My plan is to pack up the complete kits first, then sort through the parts kits and spares box to try and get some sort of order to it all as I've not really cleared my bench after builds so theres still parts from last year on it. I think I'll be getting another desk too so I can set up the airbrush on it with the compressor underneath. I also nreally need to improve the lighting on my bench as my current cheapo desk lamp doesn't put out enough light as I'm sure you've seen from my pics. I've got a few shelves to put up too so hopefully once their up I'll get most of my kits on them so I can see what i have and still have them out of the way. Any helpful suggestions on other improvements to my build area would be appreciated

A room overhaul is as good as any christmas present i reckon mate, with the lighting, i installed a LED flouro replacement... AWESOME !!!! They put out so much more light, and now power consumption... Win - Win.

My audi rally car just arrived. As soon as it was available for pre order in august i got one paid for. Not sure why it took so long to arrive since they have been out a couple of months now, and I didn't get the pe set that was supposed to be with pre orders so I've enquired about that even though I hardly use them. I'm looking forward to building this one though I might wait and see if someone does a pikes peak trans kit for it. I also go a set a hobby design wheels and i can recomend them happily. The only down side to the wheels is they dont come with tyres but a cheap set of aoshima rims will fix that

and another one, not sure how I got it for $20Us since the only one on amazon is $420 (seriously) It was listed as incomplete but I dont see anything missing. Its not a kit I needed but since it had both chassis and I needed one for a model t it seemed like a good buy

After trudging around newcastle I finally found somewhere with some kits. It was mostly aircraft and armour but they had some overpriced aoshima kits and tucked away behind them I found a london taxi so I got it. Not really what I was looking for but as soon as I saw it I could see how to turn it into a 50s buick wagon. I also found some humbrol poly cement which I've been having trouble sourcing. I like it a bit better than the revell stuff as its not as runny so I hope they let me take it on the plane back. Pic from internet

Went into one of the warhammer type shops today and that was big mistake. The guys in there were playing one of their games and it was more like a riot than a game. Lots of cussing each other out but in the melee I bought some of their sprue cutters and as I was about to pay the guy suggested I bought the set with paint as it was only a fiver more so a bit of a bargain. I think they might be high enough quality to cut pe too so that may save my nail clippers, lol

I think they might be high enough quality to cut pe too so that may save my nail clippers, lol It's years since I've been to Newcastle but I think I know that place, it had two entrances/exits at opposite ends of the store so you had one handy if you panicked and needed to bail out quick! If you departed through the door into the arcade and proceeded away from the nearest exit and turned right when you hit the street (Grainger street?) there was a Sci-Fi shop which sometimes had kits if that's also your thing. It's really sad what's happened in Newcastle, it used to be a Mecca for scale models but is now a desert. In my youth there was a model shop called simply The Model Shop with two floors of pretty much everything you wanted; I think it moved for a redevelopment and never recovered. There was a Modelzone a couple of hundred yards from from Games Workshop; that died and W H Smiths bought the brand but never made a go of it. The Metro Centre had a Games Workshop, Modelzone and a small private model shop very close to each other - the small shop couldn't handle the competition from Modelzone and gave up only shortly before the latter downsized, moved, and went bust. Needless to say, only GW's still there (as far as I'm aware). There is reputed to be a small but interesting model shop in Whitley Bay (Kit Box?) but I've never been there. There appear to be several "Home Bargains" stores in the Newcastle area but the nearest to the city centre seems to be in Gateshead; I mention this because they sometimes have kits at silly prices, but there is no consistency - they seem to get a crate of one item in one store and another a few miles away night have something entirely different or more likely nothing at all. My local one has recently had some Revell stuff at silly prices (currently the 1:35th LWB Land Rover for a fiver, and a snap kit of a 1:25th Police Car for three quid).
Regards,
M

I'm just happy I found the toy shop in the market mate, it was only maybe 15ft by 10ft but they had some kits. The taxi was not too bad a price but they had some hasegawa rally cars that were 60 so I gave them a swerve as I can get them for 25-30 online. Most of the kits they had were military/planes and they seemed an ok price. I would have bought another truck kit but I'm trying to stick with MAN trucks as they fit in with my vw collection. I asked in the warhammer shop in the city centre about where to find plastic sheet and strip and they said the only place they knew was in north shields (north east model centre). None of the shops in the top ten in newcastle on yelp are still in existence. I had a chat with the wife of the man that owns the toy shop in the market and they said newcastle council were the reason a lot of the model places are gone, apparently they didn't fit the image newcastle wanted to portray so instead its all the same chain stores with their inflated prices just taking cash out of the town to feed some stock market investors. Its a shame really, like you say there are a lot of modellers in the city that build cars and trucks. There were at least 3 of the warhammer type stuff shops all within 2 minutes of each other, all with the same stock (note to self, avoid them on a saturday) I did buy some paints and snips from them though. One thing I noticed about newcastle is the high number of pregnant children, they seemed to be all over the place in noticable numbers but i guess most cities are like that. It has made me appreciate orkney more, apparently its the best place in the uk to live but thats probably cos i live there, lol. I've been following a thread on the speil something toy show and there looks to be some kits coming this year that i need to add to my list of vw kits to get such as a non 23 window split van (ebbro) and an audi touring car (belkits). Seems the euro and asian kit makers have more faith in car kits than the us ones, but hopefully that will change with revell under german ownership. I know I'm hoping for some more german cars in 1/24 from them
