Hey all, here is my next project: The Fujimi Nissan r35 GTR with engine included. At the time this kit came out there were a number of other model manufacturers making kits of this iconic car but this was the only one which had an engine included, and what an engine it is. Looking over the kit I noticed that nothing was overlooked by Fujimi down to the smallest details like all the vacuum lines and hoses are included as well as adhesive metal trim. It appears that all this kit will need is some careful painting to make it a stunner. I plan to paint it with "Scalefinishes" factory Nissan Ivory Pearl tricoat, so let's begin....

Already scratching this itch so to speak...I got the front and rear clips on and got it all primed. The first order of business is to paint the Gunmetal color on the wheels, grill area, lower valence pieces (not shown), and hood scoops. Everything went ok, but I wish the hood scoops were separate pieces. It was really tough to mask around them after priming, painting the gunmetal, and then reverse masking for the rest of the body. This was made more difficult bc the panel lines around the scoops were shallow. Here is what I have so far. As of this update I have already painted the base and pearl colors. I will update after the clear is done and polished.

Got the engine done and ready to be installed in the bay after I finish the body. All kit parts used except a loop for the oil dipstick. Every part on this engine was molded in black plastic so careful painting was a must.

That looks really good Gil. Is that OOB or did you add anything?

Thanks, and Joe, this is all OOB and molded in black except the oil dipstick loop which I added. A couple of the molded hoses were a bit short and had to be extended but all in all one of the best engines I have ever built in this scale.

I am trying to finish before the end of the year and I think I will. Just have the interior to complete and the final assembly. For now here are pictures of the finished body.

Thanks, I am going with a black interior with white seats. Chassis pics should follow soon as well. I found that the decals in this kit are terrible which surprised me. A couple broke apart and the "Brembo" decals were about 30% too small for the engraved logo on the calipers so I just added an accentuating wash. The only other thing that I don't care for is that this is a European/Asian version and the steering wheel is on the right side of the car. Other than that, everything has gone together well and the detail is terrific.

As promised, I have the pictures of the completed chassis, brakes, and interior. All that is left is the final assembly. May I reiterate that the decals in this kit SUCK. The instrument decals, like the Brembo decals mentioned earlier, are not even close to matching up with the molded detail. As a result, I had to paint the bezels and hand paint a suggestive set of gauges. Fortunately they will be difficult to see from the outside of the car. A shame considering the great detail in this kit. (and no, I didn't have any spare gauge decals.)
