Hey folks, I'm sure those of you with free flickr accounts know by now they will be charging soon. They haven't got too greedy like photobucket did though. If you want to stay with a free account you will be limited to only 1000 photos. By my rough estimates it will only cost about 5 dollars us a month. I think I'm going to take them up on the deal, mainly cos I lost so many pics to pb, and have well over a thousand pics already ( the local vintage club use my flickr for free promotion too). My suggestion would be to take the offered deal as I fully expect the fees to rise once the offer period is over,

Thought photo bucket lost a hell of a lot of customers when they added fee's.
I'm surprised Flickr are doing the same, but I guess every company has to make money...
At least it's not too expensive, me ? I'm staying with the free version, if I ever get near 1000 pictures I'll just delete old stuff !

pb lost me as a customer when they decided the fees, at least this is reasonable, barely the cost of a 2 pints in my local and I can easy miss 2 beers a month, lol

New management over at PB these days (or a completely changed business mindset) but somebody over there pulled their head out of their 4th point of contact and offered their service for around $30 a year. I figured the rest of the photo hosting sites were gonna follow suit with them though and it looks like that is now unfolding.

Yeah, thats a better price than the 350 they tried first. I've just signed up to the flickr deal since its only the cost of a night in the pub and i dont mind missing them, I must be getting old, lol

If I still drank and decided to go to a bar it would cost me tons of money. I'd be drinking with my friends at mine or their house for waaaaaaaaaay cheaper.  |

I dunno about wiser, but i dont have beer in my house. I prefer to go to the bar and have a beer with the older folks during the day. I get in trouble if i go out at night since I'll stand up for other people whether or not their my friends, which makes me a target too. I may not be strong but I know how to put someone on their keister

Yeah, I figured they would all follow suit at some point. I too was furious with PB for how they hit us all with what they did.
But I have since considered going back to them, now that their pricing has come down.
But currently, using FOTKI, for 4 bucks a month, getting 100GB storage is plenty.

There is another option I'm looking into just now and if it works I'll put up a how to once i figure it out. If you have a facebook account i think you may be able to use it as a host but I'm looking at some of the free blog sites since some host pics on their own servers. |

Ok guys, if you have a facebook account it can be used to host your pics. Just right click them the same as you do now and it works the same way. If you dont want a facebook account you can get free blogs with tumblr which will also work as a pic host so if you want I'll do a how to for tumblr in the next few days

Yeah, but then it goes up by 30% the following year..and no doubt will continue to go up after that...when they have you by the short and curlies, by having all your photos.
I am on assbook, so could always do an album on there I guess?

Fantastic! Sounds like I'm going to have to get better at using this computer. Instagram is about my skill level. I still cock up getting pictures from the camera to the computer and then to Flickr. Just putting it out there and admitting I have no idea how this works but what if we paid the "forum" $50 each and would they then be able to provide the site's own photo hosting whatever it is? Believe it or not, this isn't the dumbest thing I have asked!! face%20in%20palm_zpsmit8xdak

If it helps I would be happy to host peoples pics on my account or once i get tumblr worked out use it as a host for people that want it. I'm sure i can set up tumblt so that we can all load pics to it.

I have just signed up to Flickr, after the PB B/S, i'm over it, $3 a month is worth it for me, as i'm not that smart on a computer, i want to keep it simple, i don't mind paying for what i want, that's why i have had payTV for 25 years, it has what i want to watch.. |
