This is a kit that barely survived my first dremel. Lets just say alcohol and dremels don't mix. I have no idea what I was originally thinking when I cut it up but now in it's second life it's going to be a 2 seat coupe and have the look of keep it on the road and forget about how it looks (not a rat though). The engine is from a viper as is the rear suspension and wheels. I'm also using the viper interior tub, door panels and seats, along with a 90 firebird dash as the viper dash is too narrow. The top is about half an inch shorter than stock. I've filled the hole from the supercharger and at the moment it's in a quick primer coat to help see the shape as having 2 colours of filler and the plastic was making seeing the shape a bit awkward. This is what I started with the engine assembled and paint built up with dry brushing various silver, blue and black (and orange for the valve covers) The first cuts to the body this time around were to cut the shoulders of the body out. This was to try and keep the stock body lines and make refitting the roof go easier After cutting a little from the front of the roof I got to this shape, notice the window shape is stock but lots shorter. I smoothed the inner fenders and firewall, and spent ages removing flash from the chassis which will probably be satin black Bumpers were also aged by dry brushing with silver, blue and black followed by a matt coat. A quick mock up, hoping for this stance The viper tub fits pretty well, and it should be simple enough to widen it at the door panels Pulled the trunk forward and it still fits the kit glass, even though it's further up the glass (hiding some bad glue burn from it's first build, lol) quick primer coat, plenty more body work to do At the moment it has the second coat of fine filler on. The first bout of filler for the heavy shaping was done with 2 part auto filler (top stop gold) and the rest will all be 3m green putty. Their both pretty hard fillers once set and take a little extra effort sanding,

I did think about that, but then the rear pillars would have needed a lot more work lining them up, and I've probably got enough to do on it. I agree that it would look a lot better chopped

Well I'm ready for the last go of primer, but the weather doesn't want to play nice. November in scotland isn't the best time for painting. If I was at my own house it wouldn't be a problem cos I can paint inside

Managed to get some paint on today. one side turned out ok, the other is very much the opposite and needs a lot more work. It all looked ok until the paint went on, even the guide coat on the primer rubbed out even but I still hope to get it finished in time. Very high chance it wont be a shiny car though, and I've managed to lose the back glass somewhere between my house and my grans. If it was a flat bit of glass it wouldn't be so much of a problem but the shape doesn't lend itself to making one from scratch. Hopefully I'll have time as I've not really had much since my gran got home. £trips to hospital for her this month already, including 2 this weekend cos she fell and split her head on friday night, and tonight she had to go because of severe pains that she couldn't point out or describe. Needless to say I'm a bit stressed so some model time is desperately needed. Ok, seems photobucket wont let me view my img codes so pics might take a while

Just start rubbin' those scratches mate, use that paint as a filler coat, and squirt it again , it happens to all of us. PS: I like that color..

Had a change of direction on this mainly due to lack of free time and having lost parts. I'm going to keep the viper parts for something else as it seems a waste to use them on this when I'm rushing it to get finished in time. So now it's going to be one of those unfinished project horror stories you see in the back of mages or on internet auction sites. The really poor fit of the mpc charger parts should help in this, for example the exhaust and rear axle are one piece and have mounts that dont even line up with anything else. I've spent some time dry brushing some browns and reds in preperation for some powdred rust which will be dusted over the engine bay and chassis once it's all dull coated.

Got primer on this morning. First 2 coats went on fine, then the third coat decided to shrivel up like a slug in salt. gaah Even the joins between the cuts are ghosting through quite heavily. I don't think I have time to strip it back and get it decent for paint, and putting it in the stripper will remove all the filler so this is going back in the scrap pile. At least the engine and other parts I have finished can go to something else so they wont be wasted

Block off the crud and wash it in soap and water and prime it again and go for it, unless it is worse than it looks in the picture. Hate to see you have to get out after all that work.
