This is what happens when you street race and get it wrong.. Built this a couple of years ago, it is the first try at weathering, but was fun. American Grafitti: 10 year later was the theme. THE STORY. Junior was always in the back ground, he could not afford a car of his own, like all his other mates, the best he could do was borrow his mums 57' Chev on the odd occasion. Then he got a casual job down the local Garage, fixing tyres, pumpin' gas, nothing special but it was a slow stream of cash coming in each week. Then he would tune his moms car, on the sly he fitted a 4bbl to it, she wont notice, just keep putting a bit more fuel in it on the sly. This gave him a bit more street cred when he did manage to borrow the old girl. Then the exhaust "needed doing", so on went a pair of stainless mufflers, she sounded better and went a little faster, just pay half the bill, Mom wont know. Then he got a set of wide rear wheels and some slicks, he would put them on Saturday night, have a race or two, then change them over before going back home that night. This worked well for a while, UNTIL.................................................WHAM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where the hell did he come from......... ?? The game was up, the car was totaled , and he was found out. The old girl was parked in the hay shed, and went no further.

You did one hell of a job on this one buddy. I remember when I first saw it I thought it was a real car sitting in a shed at your house. Fantastic job of weathering and setting it up. Especially for the first time. Blows me away every time I see this.

As far as I am concerned, this dio / build deserves to be on the cover of EVERY model car magazine. This is what we ALL strive to be like
Dale - seeing this again reaffirmed to me - YOU ARE, INDEED, MY HERO

The detritus scattered around makes it so believable! I do see he must have removed the 4 barrel and ... mounted it on Mom's new car?

Well now? You da man!! I like it a lot, and I'm glad you did update it!! All the little details are just right. The rusty motor and engine compartment, Also the area where the windscreen used to be looks so very real, and I have been in many such salvage yards over the years here in my area!!
