Thanks Joe, Dennis and Dale for your comments. Its seems that since I have been polishing the body before clear coat I have been getting much better results with the end result.

What polish you using mate?? As so many polishes have a silicone content, which just causes sh!t to happen when paint is involved.

Hi Dale only use what I use on my car which is meguiars. I start with their finest cut and polish and over a couple of hours of lightly rubbing using believe it or not an old face washer, then I use their polish which which still cuts the paint back ever so slightly and when I think its smooth enough I use their carnauba wax. After that its a good clean with dishwashing liquid in warm water, once dry I give it a good buff with some old flannelette pj's then its ready for clear coat which is a couple of mist coats, let sit for about half an hour followed by another couple of heavier clear coats and after another half an hour another couple of clear coats. When the clear coat is cured I repeat the whole polishing process all over again and although it takes a while doing it this way I have yet to use any wet and dry sanding to the paint so I have a lot less fine scratches to deal with. Also yet to have a reaction to it during painting, so I would say its paint friendly but someone out there may have had a different outcome. I also solely use duplicolor rattle can on the bodies so whether that makes any difference I don't know.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Was able to black out the grill and detail the rear tail light panel tonight, next will try to get the engine finished tomorrow night.
