My name is Greg Wann. I have been making resin items for about ten years now. I am joining forces with Excrewchief, Rocky. We are hoping to build a good working relationship making and offering various resin items. I have high hopes of eventually offering decals and photo etch items. Rocky says he has some background in cad type computer work, that is a big help. I just expanded my resin casting shop into my garage out of a bedroom I worked in for years. I have been posting for several years on the Phoenix model builders forum photos of projects on how I do the resin casting. Some of you might be familiar with it. Rocky just started a new forum where he wants me to post some photos of products. He and I are going to get very busy.
I am 58 years old. Originally from Indiana. I grew up on a farm near Mellott and Newtown. These two little towns have nearly fallen down now. When I was a kid they were thriving metropolis's to me. Newtown even had a Chevy dealership, Claypool Chevrolet. Mellott had a John Deere dealership and two grocery stores and a bar and a Farm Bureau co-op where farmers took their grain and bought livestock food and other farm items. I currently work as a plumber at Arizona State University on the main Tempe Campus. I first got into the plumbing trade at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. I started there in 1977 and left in 2000. I first saw resin items made by a guy named Art Anderson. He was the guy behind ALL AMERICAN MODELS. He took over the old Webers hobby shop and it became THE MODEL MAKER. I did not really know who Art was until I joined the Cactus Car Model Club here in Phoenix in 2005. One of the club members was Matt Conte who was making resin parts. I was instantly interested. I am mostly self taught though. Matt answered three questions and thought he was giving away some kind of trade secret. Jeff W., the Time Machine Resin guy helped some too by talking on the phone. Anyway, several companies are no longer in the resin business. Rocky and I are going to attempt to fill some of the void with my items and some new stuff. Hopefully we will be successful. I do work a four ten hour day week and I have a long time drive to work from Glendale where I live, traffic here is horrible, especially after 5 PM. Once I get home I'm pretty well too butt whipped to do much casting work.
