He's been considered the best model builder in the world for at least the last 20 years I know of. I have one of his books and it's rocket science that he makes look easy. I bought it to learn how to hand lace wire wheels and I've read it so many times and I just kinda am starting to understand how he does it. When someone commissions him to build a model of a car for them. He finds the car and takes complete measurements, even taking the car apart if he can, and then makes every part of the car all by hand, except the tires which he molds. He then brings everything down to 1/15th scale. The engines are complete and he even makes all the nuts and bolts and screws for the entire car by hand. His models are in the British museum and others including the Smithsonian Institute. They can cost as much as $15,000 each, and they say he is a very nice man to meet and a perfect gentleman.

I tried to google Roy Fitzsimmons and the other name and couldn't find him. Send me a link so I can see more about him. There are great model builders everywhere just some have a particular area of expertise or take it further than others. We all start at the same place and something can be learned from all of them and that's what's important. I am amazed at what I see members in here do. You included.

Ken, you were correct to say what you did about Roy. The man is a master in his own wright. Magnificent work. Such fine craftsmanship and attention to detail. of course, I paid attention to that gorgeous engine he built mostly. The 250 GTO is one of my favorites and I have two Gunze Sangyo 250 GTO metal kits with very detailed engines and a 250 resin engine from a master resin maker that has extreme detail even to brass tubing small enough to insert for venturis in the carbs. I'm very anxious to build one of these kits. I've been waiting for my skills to get good enough so I don't mess it up. I think I'm ready. I'm going to watch this mans work more closely. Thanks for the link.

I ordered a bottle of the Alclad Candy Orange. I have found Magic Markers have a whole new look when applied to chrome also.
