Excellent job, really nice weathering too ! Mel Gibson would be proud ! ! Well he will eventually be there. Was digging through my spares bin a while ago I came across a figure I got from a flea market for $1 many years ago. A little bit of carving off a sleeve, some foil and putty work, replace the rag with the hot gun or dog food can ... That is a way down the road though

Well I was not done! How? Just how? did I not notice a major feature of the car was missing? Now with exhaust! Nice and dirty with burnt sooty tips and a bit of oil blow shown by staining the sides of the car at the pipes. And a bomb

Well I was not done! How? Just how? did I not notice a major feature of the car was missing? If it's any consolation, I didn't notice either! Great job saving this model, and turning out a fantastic build. Well done. Weathering is very well done.

This has got to be one of my favorite builds out of you Tony. I've always had a love for this car in the first place and then you do such a great job in bringing it all to life. IMO, I really like the car without the pipes but you are right.....it just wouldn't be a true Mad Max car without them.

IMO, I really like the car without the pipes but you are right.....it just wouldn't be a true Mad Max car without them. Well... this edition is not really much Mad Max right out of the box anyway. Since it is molded based upon one of the restored cars it has all of the features from both movies but is not even close to accurate for either one. It has the missing front bumper and tanks from Road Warrior but still the full headlights and grills from the first movie. Other than Dog's jumpseat it has the full interior without roll cage of Mad Max and even the back seat is under the stowage platform. The rerelease addressed some of these issues but the main kit remains more or less the restored street legal version of the car. Would love to see a kit of the pristine car from the first movie but that will not likely ever show up.

edit, they are the parts box website, lots of cool parts for rods and racecars

There is one resin kit of the pristine car and I have one. I bought it off of a fella on ebay and I can't remember who it was. I'll have to look it up and get back to you on that. Aside from being heavy, it's not a bad kit.

Superb build , captures the feeling 100% in my opinion. Thanks. The capturing the "feel" is a great way to phrase my goal on this. As kitted the car isn't correct for any of the movie versions so getting the right look to sort of fool the eye was the way to go.

AWESOME work mate, you have done a great job with the weathering, and managed to get dirt and sand in every crevice imaginable, just like the real world.

I got mine for around $100 if I remember correctly but I recently heard from the guy yesterday on Ebay and he said that they have been discontinued which is a real bummer because they are "all that". Here's my resin kit with the Aoshima Boxing in the background

Here's my resin kit with the Aoshima Boxing in the background That is the joy of being a model buyer in Canada. Your $100 kit will cost me at least $150 just to start with. By the time I pay the exuberant shipping costs from the US and any duty, taxes and brokerage fees that they randomly seem to apply that $100 kit costs me $300 or more. I did see a build online one time that used parts from a '73 Mustang kit to replace the missing sections from the Road Warrior version but even getting a RW kit now is out of reach. Who knows though since they could re release it at any point the Aoshima version could just pop up one day.
