Hi Guys !
About time i built something again, been out of building for a while i just didnt have the enthusiasm...  Anyway ive had this 67 Pro Street Chevelle sitting in the cudboard with the idea I`d add a different body to it, but Ive got a new idea ! 
So far the interior is almost complete, and its a mess ! Scratchbuilt a new dashboard, why ? Dont know but i did ! Added rust, new door handles, torn trim etc and im pleased so far !
Once we get further along my plan will become clear, should look pretty good im hoping !

Thanks guys, actually feels good to be back at the bench !  Been mocking up and trying things out, I found an old pro mod kit so Ive nicked the wheels, rear tyres, scoop, and rear end with wheelie bars...And the little rear wing was scratched ! Going to take some serious suspension mods to get it this low, now wheres my hacksaw ? 
If your gonna go Pro Street, might as well GO FOR IT ! !

Thanks Guys ! A quick Story... ! So out in the USA we have a young mechanic, serving his apprenticeship in a bodyshop. On the way back from a delivery one day he stops at a local junkyard, looking for a new race car project. Pulling in he immediately spots the rusting hulk of a 67 Chevelle, parked up outside the office, or dumped there.. The thoughts of a Mustang or Camaro vanish as his eyes glide over the coke bottle styling of the long sleek Chevy. Its had previously been a race car, a single tatty seat inside, with holes for what was once a roll cage, and rusty wheel tubs filled the area where the rear seat used to live. The big block had long since seized, the flat tyres meant the car was almost laying in the mud. But yeah this could be cool again , so the car was dragged back to the workshop.. Over the next few days he dreamed of his pro street monster tearing up the tarmac, even thought of colours to paint it. But slowly the look of the old paint and rust grew on him, he would sit in his race seat, even the smell of decay and oil slowly faded till he decided he liked the interior too. Like crease`s in an old mans face, this had history. A plan was decided upon, the bodywork and interior would stay just as it was, maybe a new cage for safety, but he would keep it original. Its only original once right ? so why change it ? The chassis and floor would be repaired, patched up with new pieces if needed, then he`d go through the entire suspension, then the engine, painting, chroming and polishing as he went. He would save quite a few bucks leaving the rest, shiny paint and leather seats dont make you go faster ! Yeah the car would be cool all right, and he hated washing cars anyway.... And this is where my Chevelle currently stands, still chopping the suspension about I`ll post pics up later ! Thanks for reading, more soon on the Pro Chevelle ! ! |

That's going to be a good story to read again when this is all said and done Martin. I knew plenty of guys in my home town that had cars like that. We had this one guy named John Killen that had this super bad a$$ Chevy II that had a rust oxide paint job in town growing up. It was, at the time, the fastest car in town but looked terrible. Point being, you're right......paint don't make 'em go faster.  Looking forward to contined progress here buddy. |

Thanks Joe ! Interior is finished, if i can stop adding bits ! And the running gear is being painted. Front brakes added and a hefty lowering job make the front of the car Looow, rear tyres can glue to the tubs, any more and i`ll need to make a new trans tunnel. So it might have a slight rake but i can add pro mod style side skirts once its on wheels !

Looks like you are indeed giving this one "the treatment" Martin! Interior has a good amount of wear and tear to it and you're off to a great start on that engine. Have you ever tried painting a thin coat of Tamiya Smoke over kit chrome? It works wonders in making it look more realistic. Stuff works great!!! Check out this article from Scale Auto that I managed to take pictures of for later demonstration:    |

That interior is looking good! I can vouch for Joe's smoke over chrome, it works amazingly well. It also sort of "seals off" the chrome finish, making weathering on chrome parts much easier.

Sorry progress has been a bit slow, waiting for green paint as mine is rubbish... Sneek peek, built up a crazy engine then had to cut half the front of the engine bay out, and the radiator support, to fit it in !... COOL ! Made a few changes but i like this set up, once the plumbing is added should look better ! Get some more pics up once i can paint some colour on the thing....  |

Thanks guys ! An Cheers for the vid tcoat, lots of ideas there... Bit of progress, suspension together and fitted, engine in and the chassis painted ! Rear axle was fitted as low as possible without cutting out the trans tunnel, and the front suspension was chopped up and now the sump just clears the floor ! Been playing with the turbo set up too, keep changing it about but its getting there ! Thats a heat shield on the headers, made from the silver paper in cigarette boxes ! More soon ...hopefully !   |
