I purchased this fully intending to use the oily bits inder one of my dauphines but its too nice for that. So its going cal bug style. For this car that really just means changing the seat n door trim and a wheel swap to 4 spoke fuchs from a 914 but in modern sizes. I'm also trying a new pic host so let me know if theres any display problems with them. I have done one small body mod which was just removing some chrome trim from above thecoves on the side. I thought the trim just looked superfluous and it seemed to just end for no reason so its now gone. anyway, i got most of the big bits primed and a few bits in paint. paint is going to be a nice pearl black from the duplicolour hd colour range

I know what you mean. I built that kit as a rally racer and I loved how it all came together.

I just went to do some paint in this wheni noticed a little area of cracking in the primer. i'm nor sure if ut will show in the pics but my fix will be a quick layer of filler primer on the door and front wing. i think the problem is caused by the primer not being roperly mixed at the duplicolour factory as i've had the same with grey primer recently too where it comes out looking like flocking. its always from a fresh can too and after first useit works fine but its annoying when it happens. i'll still be painting it black and i have files to do the new version sometime too

I finally got decent weather to open the window to paint so i got it painted duplicolour pearl black. the first few coats didn't cover very well so it got a second going over yesterday. I'll need to clear it but i think i'm going to foil it first as i tend to overdo the clear which makes it more difficult. I've also given the steering wheel and gearknob a walnut paint job by basing them in black and dry brushing various browns and a little copper before coating with clear orange. just not enough paint the first time around thats more like it i need to do the door trim in flat black still i'm hoping to get the chassis assembled later today after i get some more detailing done.

That is a very nice black mate, the pearl really pops in the light.

Fantastic work on this. Great looking cars. They always remind me, right or wrong, of Alpha Romeos.
