Just a quick copy/paste from the other forum. Trying to get back to modelling, and I got that itch again when I went to a show. Long story short, I've been wanting this kit for a long time now, but never bought it due to some serious fitment problems I read of online. Here's the kit and the stance I'm looking for. Not sure if I'm gonna get it as low as it is on the photo, but it looks pretty dang good. Apart from the kit, I got some pretty neat detailing stuff. Gonna be my first time working with photo etched parts so I wanted to get some easy to do upgrades. Got myself one of those predrilled distributors since I can't seem to drill out the kit ones no matter what. Excuse the german on the packaging, but I'm prettt sure you know what you're looking at lol. Paintwise, I have two options. Either a red and black two tone, or a matte grey (primer) with black fenders and some rust. Not sure about the wheels either, as I don't like the ones that came in the kit. Lucas.

Small update. I've been able to work on this for a day now, and I have to say: Man it feels good to be back!. Started with the engine, and I didn't expect to get this much done. In my excitement, I forgot to take pics of the bare engine so I'll kick off with some other ones. First of all, the color I used is a Inox spray I originally bought for the winter wheels on my 1:1 but since I had some left, I used it on this. Valve covers and aircleaner got a base coat of silver, which I shot some gloss black over. When dry, I carefully sanded the black on the ribbed parts so the silver shows through. Some more parts added. Testfit in the car with the aircleaner added. Lucas.

Let's talk paint. I knew from the start I wanted to do a two tone since it's quite a large area to be done in a single color. I started with a champagne color on the bottom part, and used a metallic black on the roof. Yes I know the hood is a little rough, but I had to sand down a few spots that had some dust in it. The plan from here is to do a lace on the top, and a stripe to separate the black and champagne. Lucas.

Not a lot of progress, but progress nonetheless. I started by putting a couple of layers of clear on so I could tape off the stripe between the black and champagne. After that dried and cured, I taped off the stripe and sprayed 2 coats of metallic silver on. Gonna let it cure, apply another coat of clear and move on to the roof. Lucas.

Thanks guys, some progress has been made in the last week or two. I wanted to try to do a pattern on the roof. Found a piece of cloth that worked so here we go. Lucas.

No progress to speak of other than changing the back tires out for a bigget set.
Just ordered the '55 pickup version, which will be built as the same as this.

Lookin' forward to the updates Lucas. Are you going with a small block in the pickup or are you going to fill the engine bay with something a little bigger?

I'm probably gonna use the kit engine with one of those prewired distributors, want to try to match it as closely to the van as I can.

Haha no problem, that's why I explained what I am planning for this! I have plenty of paint, PE parts and seatbelt material to make these two.

Here we go, kit and distributor are in! First of all, those horrible wheels need to go, and the aircleaner is gonna be replaced too.

Right, done some testfitting on the pickup, dialed in the stance, and found a set of wheels to use. More when I get something done. Lucas.

Wheels are sorted, ride height is spot on, and I've been able to get the bed/cab primered. Lucas.

Got a lot, and I mean a lot done today. The weather was perfect for paint so I went ahead and did most of the paintwork on the pickup. This is really giving me a boost to finish these two side by side. Lucas.

Excellent work Lucas. What color is the body paint? I like it. Would like to see the engines. I wish I could lower 'em like that.

Thanks, the color is a champagne I intended to use for the steelies on my 1:1. Had a can left so I used it on these two.
I'll get an engine shot up soon, gotta find a way to get the lighting to cooperate since the pics are a bit too dark for my liking.
Lucas.

I know the firing order is wrong, but I have pretty large hands, and this is the best I could do. Still have to look for another aircleaner since that ugly pickup aircleaner is not going on lol.

I didn't recognize it. Engine work looks real good, IMO the firing order isn't really important as long as it looks good and your engines do.

Your powering through this second one Lucas, looking real nice as a pair mate. ( firing order does not matter either, it's too small to worry about)..

That's why I'm a lot quicker with this one, it's basically the same kit other than the bed. If I do stuff like this, I like to have both models at the same stage so I can put the same parts on both models at the same time.
